As we all know, Aces High is much more than just a game. It confers immense benefits of all sorts. So what is the best thing Aces High does for you?
How about --
sit you a shun all a where nest ... :noid

Really, aren't you now a better driver? Smarter pedestrian? Smoother talker? Wiser computerite? More elusive target for any hostiles on or off line?
Is there anything you don't do better since you started doing Aces High?

I seem to have to pee more often...

I do tend to check my surroundings more often since I started enjoying flight sims. I sure wish I had 4-20mm hispanos for the morons in traffic here in Austin. Morning and evening traffic commute would be so much more fun with them. :aok
-
Back when I started playing online WW2 sims (Air Warrior) it sparked a broader interest in WW2 aviation and lead to reading many books which my 11 year son now enjoys. :aok
Its created some friendships over the years.
Other than that, its just wasted my time. :)

Preach it brother... especially right at the I-35 split for the upper and lower decks, and the morons that dont know how to exit and merge

The subscribers do that. With out us there is no HTC.

-
Uh, without the game, there would be no subscribers. Kind of a chicken and egg thing.
-
Good point..
-
Gave me a good excuse to buy a top of the line gaming machine. I'm loving the steady 180-200 frame rates:D
-
The chicken came first...
-
It wastes my time but then it gets me off the BBS more.
Sometimes i wish i had never found the game tho, and the missus sertainly wishes that ;)
-
Met a lot of great people and have learned a lot more about WWII than I ever imagined I could.
Made some really good friends.
Learned about the view of the US through the eyes of non Americans that can speak intelligently and without invective.
Participated in the longest thread in board history.
Hopefully made most of you laugh at least once. If not with me at least AT me.
-
Take Me-410 off your list and add this instead...

dont want the uhu.. it has radar and thats not needed here :)
Me140 would be useful as jabo and fighter
-
The best thing it ever taught me was to analyze the situation and determine the best course of action, in 3 seconds...
I had often gotten myself into cluster**** dogfights where I'm up against 2-5 enemies. The best course of action wouldn't necessarily be following one target, or to get into a position to kill that one target.
-
I've lost a few pounds.
...of hair. :)
-
gives me a reason to drink at home. or....maybe it just gave me a reason to drink. cant remember :noid
-
A great pretext for drinking beer at home but with buddies ;)
-
Aces High lets me know that I'm one of the best pilots in the country, and that I could probably beat almost any Navy or Air Force pilot in a dogfight, even though I have never flown solo in a real plane.
So I would say that Aces High:
(1) Keeps me ground in reality
(2) Keeps me humble
-
Less pRon, More Plane Time.
:huh
Mac
Maybe I won't got blind after all....
I'm talking about adjusting the Gamma you pervs.
Sheesh....
-
AH taught me that when fighter pilots landed their aircraft back at their home field, yet came to a stop on the grass instead of the defines "strip", their sortie was considered a ditch...hehe

Is that a prenump she's holding??? With that smile I bet it is.:rofl
-
i remember the old days well.
from the infancy of warbirds to adolescences of aces high, it was a trip well worth taking.
i still wear an I-Magic shirt i won, really miss that combat area and the instant carpet bombing tho.
$200-$300 monthly bills weren't uncommon back then, a culling factor you could say.
all good fun flying till dawn...with four 20mm cannons on big blue and the new smoothing codes.
guess for me it's memories.
i don't fly anymore.
-
Death to TORQUE !!!
-
Hmmm, what I learned....
An obscure, Russian made fighter, never mentioned in any history book I ever read is, based on the performance in Aces High, is the 1940's version of the F-16 today :)
Dang La7

My hemmies bother and my vision is worse. My neck and shoulder ache alot. My wife goes hours without my company. Theres 15 bucks less in my wallet each month. I get to read 200. Other than that Im golden.

I don't fly much anymore, but I like to retain the option.
Maybe like having a favorite light airplane or old sports car that becomes part of you? And you still love to exercise it occasionally.
Without the costs of licensing and maintenance and insurance and property tax.
Wonder how many Aces High memberships are being added to wills.

Awesome post, sums up what I have gained from AH too, and why I still read these boards.
Except I learned about the view of the world through the eyes of non-Aussies.
