My son Thomas got a suprise today. Some of Doolittles Raiders payed a visit to the wounded soldiers at Brooke Army Medical Center today. He said it was an honor to have those men come in the rooms to meet and thank all of Soldiers and Marines. He was really impressed with these old guys as he called them. He couldn't believe the chances they took on that mission. To have them stop and talk to him was a very proud moment he said.
I myself and very thankful those guys took the time to do it as well. I wish I'd been there to meet them myself.
Thomas is doing very well all his stiches are out now, and he will be going out patient at the end of this week or at the latest next week. Again our family wants to thank all of you that have written him and sent him cards, and gifts.

In 1988 I'm out on the flightline doing a preflight on my A-10. One of our squadrons pilots comes out with a group of about 12 older gentlemen, and says... Sgt Van do you mind if I show these guys around your bird? By all means sir go right ahead, I said and went on with my inspection. Later in the day I see the pilot and asked... "So who were the guys you were showing the plane to?"
"Oh that was some of Doolittle Raiders." he said. I could have killed him for not telling me who they were.
I wonder if any of those guys were there yesterday with Thomas. I still smoke over the fact they were right there, and i didn't know who they were.:cry
