Any of you play that board game? I've had many a 18 hour match with that game...
I haven't been able to play it in years, most of my friends cringe now when I bring it up lol

Oh yeah played it quite a bit. It was a lot of fun, but like many of the games mentioned in the other thread on boardgames..... Air Warrior entered my life in 1992, and board games exited .

I tried it once but the guy I played against was a cheat. I remember one incident when I tried to fire on his troops from one position and he said "Nope...you can't do that...no line of sight."
Then his next turn he said "I'm firing from THESE troops to THOSE troops" the SAME EXACT guys I was trying to shoot he wanted to use to shoot the same troops I had tried to fire from.
I said "but you said there was no los?"
He got out a ruler, checked it and said "Oh sorry I was wrong there IS los. You didn't check it so my shots are okay".
I just said "Whatever" and never played again.

I've played it a few times years back.
It's too complicated and takes too much time.
I do own the Axis and Allies D-Day game.
Much better. It's more like an operational level wargame rather than strategic.
They just came out with a Battle of the Bulge version. They've changed so much of the game system though I don't think I'll get it. It just isn't Axis and Allies anymore.

Like D&D and RISK , I played that boardgame as a kid. Once we discovered girls and sports those went out the window.

Loved that game! Used to play it every weekend and games lasted for hours. Good times.:aok

We would buy pizza and calzone and several liters of pop...spend all day playing. Take breaks to watch a movie or something and work on our strategies...and make secret alliances and deals lol
All of my friends I played with have since moved away and it's hard to find the time for a game anymore. It takes an hour just to get the board setup...but man what an awesome game.

Must be a different version than what I played.
Mine there was a bunch of little plastic men, tank, plane and ship counters that you put on top of red or white poker chips if you had a lot.
Any game that went beyond an hour to an hour and a half was because one side or the other was playing timid, building nothing but infantry and never attacking.
Nothing complex about the production system, except the annoying fact that the US player could only "liberate" all that darn "British" Africa area instead of use it for their own production.
And BTW allmetal, they released a version of Axis and Allies on CD rom a few years ago! :aok

I have the "World at War" Mod for it. We played for 26 hours to a draw as we could barely stay awake.
-
I recently bought it Had a blast playing it in drug/alcohol rehab with about five other ww2 fans I met in rehab.
It's funner now with booze and weed with my buddys.
Anyone looking for a game?

Ya we'd start at 7pm and play till 4am. The turns took awhile because we'd talk, drink ,eat during it. I remember one particular game my brother fired his ack roll at my 10 attacking planes and rolled like 6 ones. I grabbed the board and threw it across the room all the while he was laughin his *** of at me. Good times.

When I was active duty in the navy there was a group of guys that played it religiously on the mess decks after-hours. It was funny. There'd be like 5 groups of black guys playing Spades and about 10 white guys gathered around a table watching the Axis & Allies game.
I bought the CD and loved playing it. Won't run on my XP system now.
