Well My old man was a C-5 Galaxy flight engineer when I was growing up. I grew up on C-5's C-141's and KC-135's living in Altus Oklahoma.
The C-5 is the one plane I probably know more about than any other. I've crawled through the wings of the things and have climbed up through the tail and stood on top of the thing. I've flown on them a few times and have over 100 simulated takeoffs and landings in the Full Motion Base simulators at Altus AFB. I've even done a few simulated mid air refuelings but one of those turned into a simulated mid air collision:D
-
I was a Crew Chief on O-2As, F-111Es, and A-10s
-
I worked on C-17s AF and Avionics during my term in the USAF. Big arsed thing anyways
to all that have served or wanted to serve but couldn't.

Well dont know if this counts but....
Got a ton of hours in Chinooks, Huey's and Seaknights as a passenger way back in the dark ages when I was in the Corps.
Only real "Air Time Logged" in military aircraft was jumping into the elephant grass from Huey's. Stupid me, I thought they were supposed to actually land on the ground not on the top of the grass. :O
Did several hops in C-130's, and wow, JATO's are a real rush when your strapped to a jeep on the inside of an airborne vacuum cleaner. :lol
Flew some private aircraft. Had a Private license long ago. Flew Cessna 150's, 172's, Piper Cub and a twin engine Beechcraft.
Later,

My only experience with military flight was a flight in Huey as a child. Great experience and ride.

I build bombs for the planes! :D USAF AMMO currently and my main flying time is going into Balad, Baghdad and Fallujah in Blackhawks and C130's.
My father was Navy enlisting in 1960 and doing a final retire in 2001 from the LaCrosse Navel Reserve Center in Wisconsin all while achieving Command Master Chief. The main flying he got was going into Vietnam and then when he became a Navy SERE instructor in San Diego way back when I was a little wipper-snapper.

15 years in Canadian Airforce.
6 years on helicopters and a few oddball a/c like the old Tutor, T-Bird, Musketeers.
9 years on CF-18 Hornets with 2 squadrons...421 Tactical Fighter Squadron in Baden Germany, 1986 to 1990.... and 410 Tactical Fighter Squadron in Cold Lake, Alberta 1990 to 1995
Retired 1995..still miss the fighters, they were a hoot to be around.:)
As far as "Adult supervision" goes, well I wish we had some occasionally when we were on deployment with the Jets, but it was always fun:D
cheers,
RTR

AF radio tech many years ago. Got hops in A-1E, O-2, OV-10, AC-47, C-7, C-123K, lots of C-130 time, including flight deck ride in and out of Khe Sanh.
More recently, belonged to "Fantasy Flight" doing airshows with T-6, C-45, and L-5 wearing authentic WW2 AAF uniforms. Lots of back/right seat stick and rudder time.

Eagle, from the 327th, is retired Navy, I think he was mostly in the P-3 Orions, doing ASW duty.
Widewing is also retired Navy, don't remember off hand what his aviation duty was.
Piles, also from the 327th, has been in military aviation since the mid to late 60's and should be retiring soon.
My Dad was in the USAAC in WWII, and the USAF in Korea, so I wanted to go USAF as well. My knee was a wreck in high school, so my draft classification was 4F. Later, when it looked better, and I was in college, I got an offer from one of Dad's friends who could have gotten me a good chance at a nomination to the USAF Academy, but they told me that being 6' 2" tall and 200# or more would keep me from flying anything except maybe a transport. So I declined. A foolish decision, I regret deeply not having served my country. But I REALLY wanted to fly at least some sort of attack plane, I'd have been happy to have a fair shot at maybe an A-10 assignment, they told me absolutely not. I'd have probably gotten my fool bellybutton killed anyway.
to all who serve or have served.

First hitch boot tester and Huey yo-yo. Re-upped for Aviation Hydraulics on F-4 "Phantom" . Flight line trouble shooter . Red line . Windmill . CDI. FMFLANT & WESTPAC. I did get to participate in F/A 18 acceptance inspection when we first got them in Beaufort, S.C. right before E.A.S. Hornet is an awesome bird but to watch a Phantom "GO FAST " is a site to behold. My son is a Marine now. I went to visit him before he went to AL ASAD. He took me to New River to see the Osprey. OMG when you see it up close the thing is huge. My grand father was a Naval Aviator. Aviation has become a tradition in my family. SWING WITH THE WING. For all you ole Jarheads I got 3 months corrosion control duty in the P.I.:D

with assistance i have stated yes, don't take off or land but once we are in the air they give me control for most of the time.
they are modified to have duel control so instructor.vet. can take over at any time.

Just wondering........ Years ago I got a few incentive flights in F-16s, A-37s, and OV-10s. If the pilot was doing a lot of aerobatics or hard manuvering and I got green around the gills, he would let me fly. It was the best medicine for my air sickness. If I had control of the aircraft I could do the same manuvers, not nearly as well of course, as the pilot but it didn't have the same effects on me as if he did them.
I always thought that was kind of strange, but it worked. On me anyway.
Do you ever have this experiance?
The last aerobatics I got to do was about 7 years ago in the Cavanaugh air Museums Steerman. The guy didn't want to give me the stick and he got me fairly puny feeling. I've never thrown up in a plane, but theres been a few times I would have felt much better if I had.

P.S. He joined a few weeks after Pearl Harbor with 4 friends and classmates from Northwestern University. They all became carrer military pilots and lived to retire together. He was forced to stay in through part of Vietnam. He was C.O. of MAG 33 and retired a full Colonel. Unfortunately he passed away a few years before I would have a chance to meet him.

Armee de l'Air Intelligence Officer (Lt) here.:noid
Always denied going for a ride as I was always busy. Then one day you quit, and say :":furious never went for a ride".
-
My one and only military flight was in an Alouette 3 helicopter as part of a four man 'stick'. A short hop, landing and an assault egress. Thus ended my career in military aviation.
Despite my best efforts to start a career in military aviation. I must hold a record in being rejected by five air arms in three countries. The Irish Air Corps, British RAF, RN and Army Air Corps and US Army aviation. Maybe I should have tried the Marines:cry
Still I hold out hope that I can wangle a ride in the Irish Air Corps new PC9 trainers. :aok
