OK y'all, I need some help.
I got my electric bill today-apparently in the last 2 months I have used more power then all off last year.
I went from 1700 Kwh's in Spt/Oct to 5000 Kwh's in Nov/Dec to 10699 Kwh's in Jan/Feb.
Does my heat pump suck that bad ?

Tell her to get the ones that run by batteries instead :D
-
have them check your meter.
-
They'll be breaking down your door any minute to search for pot

OUCH!
I was surprised when I used more power in the coldest month of the year (feb.) than the hottest month (Aug.)

Send a hundred dollars to gore and it will be all right.

I guess that means my heat pump is that bad ):

No chance someone has you tapped? It happened to my buddy marvin... The "guest workers" that moved in next to him had tapped into him with 6/4 wire! He discovered it within a few days but it could have cost him.

No- I did a meter check
I think the heat pump is the problem ):
-
The heat pump is the same unit you use for AC isn't it?
-
there are power conserving light bulbs you can buy and you could open up your screen on your door or windows to let air in instead of running AC

Flit.
I'd go with getting the heat pump tested. That's too big of a jump.
Raider, you are joking, aren't you?

lol, and he lives in Texas!

The heatpump may be malfunctioning and running the auxillary heat. Creating heat is the most wasteful way of using electricity. But using a years worth in 2 months sounds very suspicious.
I'd ask to have my meter checked. Of course it's the electric company that checks the meter so good luck getting an honest answer.

Reread the meter- They misread it.
Now it's only @ 7500 Kwhs.
It still makes me wonder though.

Could it possibly be that they didn't misread it, but it's an error on the meter? You said they had it right the first time. Maybe they thought they did because that's what it said?

heat pumps are not very efficient, that being said it's amazing how popular they are. If you do decide to replace it, look into a more efficient source of heat-
