to force a specific wireless connection in windows and disable other selections?. The kids (or wife) occasionally grab unsecured alternatives....not really an AH system other then I need to run software firewall as precaution at a higher security then otherwise since it happens alot.

Depends......

Many systems come with their own software for wireless connections which do permit some control.   I am not sure if there is a way in windows alone.

what Skurj said from my small exp. in the area...

my Netgear card has it's own software installed, and it has a network chooser.

there are 3 wireless networks in my area, my neighbor lets me use his, and I have the router SN# for the WEP security, and I can't even connect to the others...

sounds like some people around you are running an open network, allowing anyone to connect... if your network card has software I'll bet it allows you to choose the connection like my does automatically.

Is this XP?

If so go into the Wireless Zero thingy and IIRC Advance options.

There is a place in there where you can specify if the wireless connections are Automatic of Manual.

Just choose manual for the ones you dont' wanna connet to, and auto for the one you do.

That way XP will only auto connect to the one ya' want.
