dear HTC,
today i bow humbly.
today was the first time that i have really seen this game connect with what i have always felt must be it's logical future.
although i am still not convinced by some of the light and atmospheric qualities, i am absolutely in awe of the terrain; specifically it's complexity, it's overall quality, it's immersion its scale. with the full details included, it's seems larger...more global in size...even on these smaller maps.
it was a pleasure to fly again today.
thank you.

Possibly the strangest "IN" I've ever seen.

INcredible patch INdeed.
Sky still seems a tad purple to me, but I can live with that.
I agree that it shows a tremendous amount of future potential!
Wait till the mapmakers have tweaked it for a few months.

I guess it wasn't that hard to fix after all. ;)
-
if it was hard to fix, they made it look easy and then some.
the terrain exceeded my expectations even. (admittedly i set them rather high)
tank town was awesome. but then, this is a flight sim so i'd like to see it go back to the sky for a bit now.
of course, i am not a fan of being thrown into the dark nether world few if any words on the subject like we were. especially since the last terrain was so abysmal...but if there is a such thing as redemption, this patch was as close to it as one gets.
it is a pleasure to say so.
that said, it might be easy to believe that it would have been just as good if there weren't people making their feelings known often and with great verve, but i am skeptical of that.
i have been anticipating some of the results that i saw yesterday for years now, a long time to hang on really, and i can only hope that this is the beginning of an even greater advance.
as it is now, the lighting is still holding it back. that and the water. things reflect daylight. the current terrain seems to absorb it. walking along the water this afternoon i paid attention to it...if that could be solved...even with a splash of it to allow the imagination to fill the void, it would be a great leap.
a well rounded game of this type would also encompass all sorts of environmental variables: seasons, weather conditions, cloud covers, multiple terrains and varying theaters of war in the main, with the correct environments to match...etc.
i would really like to see it go there. so i can feel what it might have been like to have been there.
so long as it does...i remain a fan.

any second now...........

since that last post it has gotten even better even.
:)

really. the sky color is better by miles. there was one map that i flew on today that didnt have the perma cloud above it and it was a nice refreshing change. the new terrain is awesome...and rumor has it that they are finally changing the billion year old screen shots on the website.
a few new maps, some variable terrains and a few new environments an this thing would be pure hotness.
but that's just my .o2 frogface.
what's your take on it?

The Omen is on right now so I don't have time for silly computer games.

Well work for one thing and the navy told me a week ago to "get ready to go spend 2 weeks in South America at the end of May!" so I have a chitload of quals I have to get done before I head down there, if I do head down there.
Have patience, your flying target will be back flying soon. Either in a 190 or a F4U.

The terrain revision along with the new skins (fantastic job all, by the way) have reinvigorated my interest in the game. It's been lagging some in the last few months.
Great jorb all.
