Had to turn my monitor down and play with my color settings, but 1 hour of recalibrating and a headache later, it looks pretty sweet.
I voted "rocks".
-
I voted YES!
And terrain look GOOD IMHO!
-
Very good now :aok
-
Terrain is better, new tank town spawns are fun.
Anyone else think it looks 'foggy'? or is it just me?
-
If anything finally got fixed, it was TT.
The alternate spawns, the profuse hedgerows and trees, the farm and village buildings, spawns' further apart...All fixed, in one patch. WTG!:aok
-
Yes...gave the gamma a tap to 100,and it's now very nice!
IronDog
-
Looks good to me :aok
-
I think it rocks, people say it's "foggy", but I don't see it...everything is looking great on my POS computer. I had alot of fun flying yesterday. Some people complain to no end, but HTC is really working hard to make everyone happy, and I commend them for that.
-
I am sure that the "foggy" look was about 1 hr before and after sundown sunset. This new terrain is absolutely amazing. It was the right mixture of new stuff and old provens!

Flew a sortie last night, cutting into my sleep-time, but it was worth it.
Set gamma back to 1.0, and all is golden!
Looked pretty good, had more depth than I thought it would. That last version must have really been mixed up with lighting, as it looked like a solid green color, but it's now got variations in it. See what a little lighting can do?
Flew around, going from 22k down to the deck in the trees... Looks good, IMO! I didn't see any glaring flaws, other than maybe the airfield tiles don't match the green tiles around them, but this is very minor.
EDIT: Okay, I thought of ONE thing I didn't like: the jagged horizon. But that was easy enough to forget once the enemy got close and I focused on more important stuff.
-
Looks great!!:aok
-
Definitely rocks now.
Up high and down low, you really get the feeling of being in a totally new world. In fact my first flight, i upped to defend a field, and kinda got side tracked looking at the terrain. The slight foggyness at times somehow adds a deeper sense of realism.
WTG HTC!

I notice the Haze layer at 16.000 seems to be thicker. A squadie and I were going to bomb a V-base from 18k in B-24's. We didn't even see the target until it was too late and then I only seen it because there was a fire (that I could barely see) already on the base. Never had that problem before.
Besides that I think it looks a heck of a lot better now. I'm glad they thinned out the trees and moved the hangars apart at V-bases! Still having a bit of depth perception problems with the terrain, but all in all it's much better than it previously was. :aok
-
Great improvement with one exception. The airfields and towns are much harder to pick out from 10-12K until your right on top of them. Someone mentioned having the same proble at higher altitude. Is this just my eyes or my settings or are others seeing this? It makes it hard to set up approaches for dive bombing. In the past, I could easily see airfields 8-10 miles away from 12K. Now it seems like they arn't there until I'm much closer. Once I can see them they look great.
I voted rocks!
-
WTG Grapevine! A little less haze would be nice but otherwise it's spot on. GV'n through those new trees is a treat!
Thanks for the effort and hard work!!
-
haze denotes distance.... it's fine...... if you really fly you'll see what I mean.
<> to HT and gang!
-
TT looks really good, you can spawn a live a few minutes now:cool:
But you can't see through the smoke anymore. bummer
-
pictures please...
not those ones stang.....

Maybe the fog from WW2OL is pilling over to our server. :lol
It ROCKS.
-
There is a lot of terrain shimmer in the single runway airfield tile...anyone else notice that? Otherwise looks pretty spot on.
-
New TT looks like it NEEDS to be bombed :-X
-
I realize I'm in the vast minority here, but things seem a bit washed out and dull to me. Yes, I reset gamma right away so its not that. Its definitely hazier, high noon in-game or not. A positive side effect from that may be the curtailment of bombing from the stratosphere - buff drivers won't be able to see the target until its too late to correct. I'll have to play with the settings a little more on my end I guess. i have not seen things from a gv standpoint yet.
DON'T WORRY!!! THIS IS NOT A WHINE!!
-
Things are a lot better in this patch, but it is foggy. The cloud layer at 15 or 16k is also very opaque, but these things are OK if they're variable. You know, some days foggy/hazy, some days crystal clear.
-
Looks great I voted NO the nice pretty screenshot it makes as it freezes up is nice looking Never had a problem til this patch.
-
Even though my fr's half what it was, I like the new silent tank. Along with the invisible cons they have to be one of the most challenging aspects of play.
TT's much better. Spawns are well spaced and the terrain's very cool.If I could identify targets by sight or sound it would almost be too easy.
But I don't think it rocks.

this happened to me
I deleted the cache and let it rebuild again and then it ran smooth.
-
Looks foggy to me too, but I don't mind.
Much improved and I was able to dial my gamma way down.
-
I tweaked the gamma quite a bit & it's either washed out or too dark. No in between. I'll have to play around with monitor settings a little more. I don't like it so far.
-
That was my main grief woody.
Yes the darkness of the tiles are now really bright. Turned the gamma down some and everything else looked dark especially the cockpit.
Guess will have to tinker some more to find the best settings.
-
no problems here. even with all the eye candy turned down or off, the game has never looked better. got a slight frame rate drop with the patch but my 1.4 gig athlon/geforce2 gts still hums along ok.
you have got to hand it to HTC they have always gone the extra mile to accommodate the monetary challenged and tight fisted part of the community. putting my upgrade off to 2010 now :)
-
its too bright now.... half way ground would have been better, now it looks like it never rained on earth......ahhh keep trying. lol
-
It FINALLY no longer looks like a big golf course anymore
-
It looks pretty good but it does not rock. When Nigel Tufnel turns his amp to 11, he rocks. Version 2.10 patch 2...not so much.

Nigel Tufnel is the fictional lead guitarist of the rock band, Spinal Tap, featured in the 1984 mockumentary film This Is Spinal Tap. He is played by the actor Christopher Guest.

Yes, but his amp does go to 11. \m/:mad: \m/

hehe that was a good scene
Nigel Tufnel: [pointing to a customized Marshall amplifier head unit] This is a top, to, uh, you know, what we use on stage, but it's very, very special, because, if you can see...
Marty DiBergi: Yeah...
Nigel Tufnel: [pointing to the control dials] ...the numbers all go to eleven. Look, right across the board: eleven, eleven, eleven, eleven...
Marty DiBergi: Oh, I see. And most amps go up to ten?
Nigel Tufnel: Exactly.
Marty DiBergi: Does that mean it's louder? Is that any louder?
Nigel Tufnel: Well, it's one louder, isn't it? It's not ten. You see, most... most blokes, you know, will be playing at ten. You're on ten here, all the way up, all the way up, all the way up... you're on ten on your guitar. Where can you go from there? Where?
Marty DiBergi: I don't know...
Nigel Tufnel: ...nowhere! Exactly! What we do is if we need that extra... push over the cliff, you know what we do?
Marty DiBergi: Put it up to eleven.
Nigel Tufnel: ...Eleven. Exactly. One louder.
Marty DiBergi: Why don't you just make ten louder, and make ten be the top... number, and make that a little louder?
Nigel Tufnel: [pause, blank look and snapping chewing gum] These go to eleven.

"Hi, My names Arty Fupotato peelin... Polymer records........"

probably the best bit in the whole film. =) although the scene in the diner when shes showing them her pictures of what they should each represent cracks me up just as much.

Its earlier than 1995 - its from the 'An audience with Billy' performance back in the eighties - a performance for which 'ROFL' could have been invented.
:rofl
