Title: Not really support, more a question / suggestion
Post by: Knite on April 27, 2007, 04:59:35 PM
Hey all,

I was curious on something. What is the draw distance / detail view used when you do an Alt-F4 to get the max Ground Vis?

I've cranked my draw distance to the max, and it's still MUCH shorter than Ground Vis max. Is there any chance that the ground vis max can be set for flight as well, without loosing the far away hills and mountains as is done now?

(I'm probably asking really poorly.)

Shift F4.

I believe the ground vis setting renders objects another 1K out. I think the ground object distance slider thing goes out to 5K, and that groundvis mode takes that out to 6K, but I'm not entirely sure.

I believe it's setup the way it is to avoid a big performance hit from trying to render everything, and striking a compromise between detail and performance. I don't think there's anyway in game to push those distances out, if that's what you're asking.

Uh.. yeah, shift F4. Thanks Krusty. I kinda do a lot by touch so don't always remember the right keys.

Yep, that's what I was asking (albiet poorly).
Tis a shame though, as if it's in the engine, I would think that's what the purposes of the sliders are... so that the computers that can handle it have the option. I don't even think I have that great a PC either and it does ok with it.

Thanks for the help!
