Post by: 68valu on April 28, 2007, 11:14:08 PM
was wondering what you people think of this card, i just got it for a real good price brand new,This card has a 16 pipeline pixel shading, DDR 3 memory running at 1000MHZ and a GPU speed of 370MHZ.
The card puts out a whooping 33 GB a second, i hope this performs as well as i hope in this game

For about the same price you can get a Ge7600GT which will be better than it.

The 6800 line, while robust for its time, is now "old".... They over clock it, they stick more RAM on it, but it's still got the 6800 core chip. The 7600GT with similar speeds and less memory will outperform it.

Oooh, wait, are we talking AGP?

In that case the 7600GTs are hella expensive!

7600 GS might be better.

It's not so much the speed or the memory, it's the entire package. The 6800 series just has a weaker core. The algorythms for computing FSAA, Aniso, and all that jazz are better on the 7000 series.

But, If you rule out the 7600GT then it's a matter of taste, I guess.

Before upgrading to an 8800GTS I ran a 6800GT for a couple years, its a good solid card and doesn't suffer from the cooling problems of the 7000 series.

Bang for your buck, its hard to beat the 6800GT, Its not exactly top of the line anymore, but it will run the socks off of AH... I was running 1600x1200 with all the hi-res packs and max sliders and it normally gave me 70+ fps.

That was PCI-E on a Pentium D 830, not sure how that compares to your rig.

I have a BFG 6800 Ultra (AGP) It isn't much better than a GT OC really and I haven't seen any game yet running at max detail that it could not handle.  I do plan upgrading to an intel x6800 and a NVIDIA 8800 PCIE system at least by mid-summer.  But for now, there isn't much I can throw at this one that it will not handle.

I suspect it will be a fine card for AH.  I have a 6800GS and have been very happy with it.

I have the same card and agree completely. It gets me a minimum of 50 FPS in the toughest conditions and 100 normally on an AMD 4000+ with 2 gigs system RAM. There is no way I will "upgrade" from something that ain't broken.
