In talking to a few people in the LWO arena yesterday (TT map), I was able to corroborate that most people seem to notice the new AH environment as being very hazy/foggy/smoky. I imagine that is how it would feel to fly around heavily poluted areas, or in a nice summer day in England :D , but it is not very enjoyable to have that type of environment constantly in the game as it is hard to see and I find myself squinting quite a bit. Are others experiencing the same problem? If so, could it be how I have my graphic properties (video card, monitor, game settings) are configured? (although I doubt it, I've changed them around quite a bit to no avail).
Wish I could post a picture, but I have nowhere to upload it.
Regards,

Since the last patch, it looks really good to me. Like a typical sunny day.
-
Would you be able to share your graphics configuration? I use max detail/quality, 1.0 Gamma, Horizon is checked, Terrain optimization is checked, etc. etc.
I noticed that disabling Horizon seemed to help as it basically made the line between the earth and sky a straight horizontal line, with the sky component missing the fog/haze.

I like it as it is! My display settings basically set to default.

I notice that so far the only ones that like it are Canadians... so we can safely discard those opinions :O

No problems here either. Looks great on my end. Maybe post your system specs?
-
I have noticed it seems a bit hazy-
I also notice that I see planes on Dar, but cant get visual as quickly as I used to
-
Some hours of the AH day are better than others, but overall, there is a haze. I agree with uKnoMe, its much more difficult to spot cons at a distance now, and going over the cloud cap makes it almost impossible to spot cons down below. I do plenty of real life flying, and although there are some bad days, on sunny clear days, it is definitely better than AH. The interesting thing is the haze wasnt there BTP (before the patches). Should this be something we should expect as a constant?
Not a huge deal, but it would be nicer to have more clarity (pun intended)

It's very hazy. I think Los Angeles has better air.
-
Very hazy on my end as well. As several others have stated, you can't see the dots (cons) nearly as far as before. So far I'm trying it off line. Does that make a difference?

I'm not in Canada and it looks great to me.

I have the same problem as Emu.
It's like bushfire season in the MAs.
It doesn't worry me that much, I'm all for adverse weather conditions periodically, but I do have a permanent 'smoke' haze at all altitudes up to at least 16k (i'll have to go higher tonight and check if it clears)
I had no problems before the patch with smoke haze.
Note: This isn't a whine or a complaint, just an observation.
:)

lol. My ancestors walked around europe with their pants off. Im on every side of WWII except Japan! (Im also Itallian and a few other things)

a pain, maybe but it's realistic.
the only realistic way to avoid constant weather conditions is to have weather that changes
-
I also have a haze effect. I'm assuming that's how it should be. No haze above the cloud layer.
If this is how it should be I can live with it. No biggy but does make cv hunting a little harder if it's not already burning.
In general this new patch is a blessing I bet the GV'ers love it.
-
I've noticedthe haze primarily when approaching bases at 12,000 ft for dive bombing. It's a lot harder to see the air fields or towns until almost on top of them. I would prefer less haze. It puts no one at a disadvantage since it's the same for everyone so I don't see it as a "problem".
I'm a little puzzeled that everyone doesn't see it but my monitor is several years old, I have a mid-range video card, and my eyes are a lot older than my monitor.:)
-
bombing fields from 22k+ requires VERY good eysight now
-
If your running 1024 textures grab the latest Hi-res pack, made a hell of a difference to me.
-
I have noticed a bit more haze since the patch also. Doesnt seem to be much of a real problem for me. Of course I am nearly blind anyway.
There seems to be a lot more cloud formations as I fly around. The density of the haze seems much more prominent when aiming bombsights. It seems much more difficult to locate the target at higher altitudes now.
Most of my bomb runs are between 8-12k alt and doesnt seem a problem. I have flow a couple missions with HARM and Special Events above 15k and it seems the higher I go the harder it is to find the target. Of course this seems to make sense to me that it would be harder to see the target at higher altitudes.
For example I flew the HARM mission Sunday afternoon. Our altitude over the target for the bomb run was 25k. I had to search hard to find the target in my own bombsight. IIRC we were about 30 seconds from the target before I actually sighted it and was able to calibrate my bombsight for the run.
Just my thoughts but it seems to add some realism that I did not notice before. Of course I am relatively new to the game. So others may have a more accurate feel for the changes.

KayBay

Is your nose cold too?:D
-
I'm getting quite a bit of haze too.
Its much worse when its dawn/dusk. Higher you go the more haze their is.
I guess its something we will have to get used too but it wasnt there with the lime green muck ;)
-
For me, dots appear at about 7k...just before the icon. It's makin' this feel like work.
-
I get haze also . Don't really like it much at all .
I did find that it cleared up over 16 k on the Islands map .
If we were voteing , I would vote for clear skys please .
Could this be some bug caused by the "fix" for the smoke etc ?

And as far as high-altitude bombing, no, actually, the haze goes away for me when im up above 15,000...

global warming guys, global warming:D

It looks very hazey on my setup too. I mentioned how nasty it looked on text and got several similar responces.
I did like the 1 or 2 days that the sun didnt burn your eyes out of your head. Why does the sun shine thru the clip board? Jeezers pass out some shades ! Opena PX and charge a perky or 2 for a pair that will last that session.
-
Ok, did the hi-res textures. It didn't change the haze, however, all of the ground textures are now more distinct. At least I can see fields when I fly over them now. :)
-
<-- would MUCH prefer less haze. The clouds are fine and the improved ground textures rock :aok
-
I agree. Too hazy.
-
New haze suck. Sometimes i cannt see dots inside icon range, especially against ground.
Never understand why devs decreasing visibility to hell. There are nothing worst than circling around and be unable to see anything. Low populated arenas just dont worth flying for me now.
