Title: desktop res vs game res

does it make any difference (frame rate / performance)what i have my desktop resolution set to if its not the same as my game res?

example - i like the game at 1280 x 1024 but i like my desktop at 1024 x 768

would my system like it better if they matched or would AH like it better if i ran a lower desktop res?


so I guess what I am asking is if desktop resolution in any way affects game performance?
