Operation Husky is in the final planning stages before launch, and the Scenario Team is looking for a few good strategists who would like to command in this 3 frame Scenario. There have been a few who have stepped up on the Allied side, so we are looking for those interested in the Axis side specifically, but nothing is set in stone.
This Scenario is a multi life Scenario, and will implement a few new aspects to AH Scenario play. Operation Husky was also designed with the ability of the CO's to have some flexibility while the Scenario is being run to respond to any given threat.
Interested?
Dates the Scenario will run (likely end of May, begining of June starting at 3PM EST on Saturdays) will be announced when the Command Groups are finalized, and registration will begin.
Please respond in this thread:

Preliminary Rules are here:

Sorry...no. For me, multi-life stuff is little more than the MA with restrictions. Now, when you folks do a 'real' scenerio...I would love to join in. One life per frame is what makes 'em special. :)

Krusty will you be flying in the scenario? I'm still looking for 1 more GL IF I do mange to get the CO spot and I recall you offering assistance if it was wanted. So far OOZ has offered to be the XO and keeler has offered to help as well, nomde is busy with a FSO event in June that will be keeping him occupied with his free time. Also this is all still a IF thing ATM.

I'd volunteer but I always lose these things :P

Point taken.
Husky was designed with 2 goals. Give the Side CO's the ability to react, and provide the players the ability to have some fun :aok
Because the battle has Land, Sea and Air components with many possible targets and defensive postures, multiple lives are essential with average Scenario participation.
You're free to sign up and keep your first life. Your side will get BONUS points if you, (or anyone participating) land at end frame ;) One change in scoring in this one. Survival is rewarded.
It's in the rules.

The last weekend of May is Memorial Day Weekend, and I for one have no intentions of being anywhere near a computer.... You might run into that with a lot of people stateside. Just sayin'.
If it starts the next weekend though... Well, that could be a lot of fun :D

Vudak thats a great point I never thought of that.

TY for pointing that out!
June may be when we roll, given the registration and practice time both sides should be allowed.

Is the terrain finished?

Yippee Yes the scenario is taking place on the Italy map which is used for FSO so there shouldn't be any map problems.

Your Kyatoru that flew with the 613th?

Doobs, no offense taken! Filth has a lot more experience than I do in things like this. I wouldn't shy away from the challenge, though, as sometimes it just takes a single move to turn a fight, or luck, or thinking outside the box, or whatever.
Husky: I think I might, but I want to hold off and see if the other side needs an XO or advisor-type-person before I sign on as GL with you. I mean, first we need a CO for the other side, then see if he's asking for any help, then if not I'll decide which side to fly with :)

Single life DOES add to the tension and immersion, since living and dying MATTERS so much more that way.
And my liimited experience with multlife events has left me wondering: doesn't multi-life structure allow minor design imbalances to magnifiy dramatically? Scenario balancing must be tremendously tougher with multi-llife, as opposed to single life, events.
Here's what I mean: if one side has a little better plane, or tactical positioning, multiple lives make that advantage get bigger and bigger with every respawn, until what should be a minor factor can be the point that decides the outcome.
So even though I've had a hankering to get into strategy positions for scenarios, I'm going to pass as well.

Who is the GL fo the 38 squadron? I'd be interested in flying for them.
-
We don't know Bodhi COs are not set in stone there for I can not set my group leads in stone.

Multi life ...
now some of you disagree with a multi life event . But in the past it gives your country basically double the numbers by having 2 lives .
in past events (malta as example) the 2 lives worked really good .... this gives you the chance to keep participating if you happen to die early ... Most of us feel this is more important in a long immersion type scenario then dying and having players log out.
There isnt so many lives in a plane here that you can use the MA attitude of up kill die reup .... rinse repeat . you will have to be cautious enough to keep your plane and you get points for landing successfully in Husky .
This is one of those events were multi life works best .
Now If you guys wanna pack the Arena with 400+ players we could alter the life amounts and would probely do so . :aok
-
Having helped in "Malta" and participated in all of "Stalins Fourth" and flown 2 full practices and 1 frame of "Downfall" (buggers canceled it before I could get back from vacation!), I can say that multi-life events can definitely add new elements to the tactics and strategy.
Don't mistake "multi-life" with "MA horde". they are not the same!
This is a structured event, no 2 ways about it. Depending on the rules of any scenario, you will be required to count lost aircraft, or to save special aircraft before the timer runs out, or whatever.
Multi-life is just part of the description, it doesn't change what it will be, a scenario event, with all the expectations one associates with that.

Im not a fan of multi-life. It takes the fear out of it.

Postpones it.
