I have come to the realization that if I get a C- in Constatutional Law II, I will still receive my law degree.
I have a job lined up after school. I still have to pass the bar. But I can get a C- in Con Law II, and not lose any sleep over it.
That's mighty liberating.
I was grade obsessed in college. I wanted to make sure I could get into a good grad school. Of course it was easy to be grade obsessed when you care about the material. Con-Law II on the other hand, is possibly the least interesting course I have ever taken in my life, which is a real shame because the professor is a nice enough guy, and he sounds like he could narrate civil war documentaries for PBS.
Anyhow, it's 1:32 PM here in Dallas, and I have a final at 6:00 pm. I'm going to go nutts though, and aim for a C.

it might help your grade if you spelled "constitutional" correctly :aok

LOL great edumacation system.
:D

When you're in the exam I suggest you spell it "Contitutional". ;)
I remember well arriving home after handing in my final thesis for my undergrad degree.
I sat down, let out a big sigh and then my dog started to bark. That was followed by a comotion at the front door and when I went to investigate I found that my dog had bitten some woman delivering flyers. She had opened the plexiglass door and tried to slip the flyer in while the dog was going bananas on the other side...in full view of her.
As soon as she hit the latch he had jumped up and pushed the door open and bit the girl on her backside as she was trying to run away.
Cost me a couple of grand and my dog was almost put down because of that.
Stress to calm to mega stress.

Why do you think I went to law school? No spelling or Math sections on the LSAT :)

Does the Bar Exam have a "Rat Recognition" section?
-
Maybe it's just me, but considering the Constitution is the single most important political and legal document in this country, and outlines what this country stands for, and how the different branches of government interact with each other, I'd think that someone looking to get their law degree would show a little more interest in the subject.
Forgive me if that seems a little harsh but I haven't had any coffee today and I'm a little on edge.
-
Hornet,
The class covering those topics was Con-Law I.
Con-Law II covers the various mechanisms by which the Judiciary usurps power from the Legislature. If you aren't a big fan of the Supreme Court, it's not a very interesting class. I'm much more interested in the more practicle side of my legal education.
My wife on the other hand loves this crap.

Gotcha. Like I said, not trying to be a pain in the butt. Congrats on getting through it all though. I'd never be able to do what you've done. I can't stand classrooms. I learn better hands on.
-
Ill tell you just like I tell my kids
If all you do is aim for the lowest
your sure to fail
Always reach for the highest star
You may not always get it. But you will ed up with alot more then if you just settle right from the start
And
I'll accept a "C" in the first semester
A "C" in the last semester is inexcusable
Grades are only allowed to go up. not down.
When it comes to schoolwork I borrow a line from "The Cane Mutiny"
"Excellence is standard.
Standard is sub standard
And sub standard will NOT be tolerated under any circumstances"
Show up on this board reporting a "C" and we will force you to spend some sexy time with these two

Perhaps if more lawyers understood Con - Law and more importantly the contitution, they'd stop abusing it.
Nah wait, that's really not likely. Lawyers and legislators not abusing the constitution. Nope that will never happen, darnit. :furious
Congrats on passing.

Good luck on your final Sikboy!:aok

I agree 100%, that's why my Goal is a C instead of a C-!

Before my final in economics I calculated that I needed 103% on the final to get and A in the class, but I only needed something like 65% to maintain my B. So, I studied just enough to pass. I ended up with an A for my overall grade. I talked to the professor to figure out how he figured the grade; he gave me 105% on the final because I set the curve and most everyone else bombed it. Sometimes not stressing out over a test is the way to go; I only pull off a B+ or A- when I tried.

Well ****. I guess I'm off to school to go **** this thing up. I can't remember the last time I was so unprepared lol. I think I'm just burnt out.
ConstItution. ConstItution. ConstItution. ConstItution. ConstItution. ConstItution. ConstItution. ConstItution. ConstItution. ConstItution. ConstItution. ConstItution. ConstItution. ConstItution. ConstItution. ConstItution.

When your boss puts his bellybutton on the line for strangers he can talk. I have never seen a lawyer out in the street putting their lives on the line for the public.
FWIW the post I made was tongue in cheek. You chose to take it seriously, your problem not mine.

I got the impression that his post was tongue in cheek too. (And pretty funny).
Plenty of lawyers put their bellybutton on the line for the public, and are seen as scum for doing it... Just wait until someone has to defend Osama. That'll be as great a public service as anything any cop ever did.
At least if we truly value what we claim to.
-
If I misinterpreted it, I'm sorry.
I have never seen a lawyer out there on the street answering a burglary, homicide call and never making entry on any call so please spare me the putting their bellybutton on the line bit.

You don't think a lawyers ever been killed for taking an unpopular case? Atticus Finch got off easy.

Maverik's retired and spends most of his time driving from place to place in a RV, he probably falls asleep on the couch watching re-runs of matlock :p
aiming for a C is like only dating ugly, fat chicks. its easy, but its still a ugly fat chick.

Lol, turns out it was much ado about nothing (as usual I guess). I'm guessing B+ or A-. Not at all what I expected.
As for Maverick... I really don't know what to tell you pal. As a Veteran and a civil servant I really don't understand your point at all. Because Brad and I have chosen to be lawyers, our service doesn't count any longer? Ok, I guess that works.
The odd thing that I've always felt with regard to Mav is that we are polar opposites in ALMOST every way.
I'm young and dashing, he's old and ugly
I was an enlisted Sailor, he was an officer puke,
He's a cop, I'm going to be a sleazy criminal defense attorney.
But at the end of each week, I'm guessing we both find ourselves sitting in a pew in front of the man, each convinced that they are a good person.
Anyhow, Mav's on my list of "People I'd buy a Beer for" Even if I'm not on his.
Let me know if you're going to be in Big D, and I'll hook you up lol.

I finally got my Grade back: B-
I'm certainly not going to argue about that. On an interesting point, overall it was my best semester at law school (this was my lowest grade). There's something to be said for not over-stressing these things I guess.

I'm rather surprised, but this has been an interesting thread.:D Glad you did well Sik
