A joystick that has a notebook like track pad for a hat switch...  to keep that little annoying f'er from wearing out.

You know, that's not a bad idea... as long as you're using pan view. Kind of like a poor man's trackIR. Horizontal tracking on a small pad is straight X axis tracking, and higher or lower on the Y axis brings in the up and down component. Tapping it could return it to default view.

I remember the TM F-16 TQS had an actual trackball in it at one time. I think it got changed later on but have seen several of them on eBay recently.
