Where's my red P-38? :cry

Tangerine Nik's been around a coon's age. Exceeds the USDA's daily recommendation of Vitamin C :aok

Orange is also found on several other japanese aircraft. They used it to denote a training squadron, at least until the Allies figured out what it meant, and hunted down any orange aircraft. Something like that.
Your red P-38 was a post-war racer. Not a historic skin.

LOL! No. It was the 5000th P-38 built, and it was during the war. It flew first on May 17, 1944. It was a PR thing. It crashed soon after it first flew (maybe even on that first flight).

think the standard is squadron deployment, though.
That's why historic skins like formation ships (the polka dot B24) and captured birds (ie Focke Wulfs in US markings) arent eligible.

Too much of that self-tanning lotion.
