Ok I know they don't mean much, but I use them to check progress and units used etc. The start of this month has been pretty bad while I experiment a bit with new maneuvers, so as I look I notice I have a rank of
Kills per Death + 1 0.93 1127
So checking my bros to see his status this month..
Kills per Death + 1 0.88 934
How does someone with a .88 have a higher 'rank' than someone with .93?
I'm confused by this as I guess I was checking my stats incorrectly all this time?
????
This is the first time I've slipped below 1.0 so maybe that is the issue that as you go below 1.0 you rank reverse or something? lol?

About rank. (http://www.hitechcreations.com/ahhelp/scoring.html)
-
That still does not explain why someone with .88 has a BETTER rank than someone with .93???
The math just doesn't add up.
Thanks for the link though, it explains a bit on how things are scored.
Better to ditch than to chute out, that I wondered.
Better to get captured than to die completely.
Dying is just bad bad bad hehe.
As for the rank, I"m a bit confused. If it's fubard then fine, but I guess I need to know that .93 is better than .88 or was my previous months 1.50 + actually worse than this months .93???
Something is off here or I'm not understanding..

are you looking at just that one heading, "kills per death" and only under the one heading (fighter,attack....)?
What CPIDs are these? so we can take a look at them, and maybe spot something.

I'm sincraft, my bro is flackfud
We are corn fused!
Also it seems like if you chute and are then captured, for kills per death +1 , you are penalized double. So better to die fighting than to chute and be captured? or does this only count as one in that situation?
Yea we were just talking about this...he's vastly improving with his p38l which he enjoys flying. I'm taking on some more 2vsme and 1v1's trying to increase my escape tatics and turn the table skills so I expect my rank/points to go down during these times that I utilize new skills.
However, stats are pretty important to me. I LOVE stats. I stare at web trend type reports for fun for my websites as I'm very much an amateur SEO (search engine optimization) enthusiast. I used to play a game called Asheron's call, mostly for the stats alone to figure what I could pump and how to tweak things to be more efficient. hehe.
#'s always tell a better story that any one person can. :)

It depends on what your both K/D rate was at the exact moment the rank number was calculated. As score is updated after every sortie but rank # only once per day, it is possible that someone with a better score has actually a worse rank - for a day.
Example:
Player A K/D 3, player B K/D 2. Rank is calculated, A gets rank # 100, B rank # 300. A few minutes later B has a kill streak and improves his K/D to 5. But the rank will stay the same until next rank computation. Until that, he has better score yet still worse rank.

That's the answer I needed, thanks. :) I understand now.

The way I read it, rank for fighter is "Kills per Death = TotalKills / ((Discos * 0.5) + Bails + Captures + Deaths + 1)
"
(I may be wrong, but here is my take)
Some of your TotalKills may count in your K/D but not count towards rank.
When looking at your score, you can click on the "Kills" link and see there are some kills that do not count towards rank, I think you do get credit for them in the "kills per death" column. One way to get a kill that doesn't count towards rank is to send an M3 driver back to the tower while you are flying in fighter mode. You would need to be in attack mode to get the credit, but of course it will count towards the attack score. I am lead to believe this because of this statement under scores..
Only air categories are scored for fighter mission types , ground categories only for bomber mission types, and both air and ground are scored for attack, vehicle, boat and field gunner mission types.
If I am correct in my assumption, this may be why the higher K/D may have a lower (higher numbered) rank.
Disclaimer: I didn't stay at a holiday inn last night, so I may be WRONG!!!!

sin,
fighter rank is scored by 5 categories each with its own rank. Look at these fighter scores from last month for the people ranked #1 and #2.
Kills per Death + 1 9.41 31
Kills per Sortie 4.37 8
Kills per Hour of Flight 16.09 11
Kills Hit Percentage 19.09 14
Kill Points 82000.80 29
Kills per Death +1 23.54 4
Kills per Sortie 5.00 4
Kills per Hour of Flight 12.13 62
Kills Hit Percentage 14.63 45
Kill Points 105224.04 11
As you can see #2 has a K/D of 23.54 and #1 has 9.41. These scores are so good that the amount of players that finished with a K/D of more than 10 were only 27 or so. There were only 2 categories that #1 player had better rank in yet still achieved #1 with a lower K/D score.
My main point being that K/D is only 1/5th of fighter rank and even though you have a better one than your brother he may be a much better shot and get more kills per hour thus ranking higher than you.
hope this helps explain why.

PERK flakfud!!!
Sorry.
I've seen the Number 1 fighter pilot with 1 sortie, no kills, .01% hit percentage, and 1 landing over two weeks into a tour. There is some kind of black art to the ranking; I'm sure there are valid mathematical reasons for this, but I haven't figured them out yet.
HTC has documented score, but as far as I know they keep the ranking algorithm secret. It's probably based on the stock market, exchange rate between the Cordoba and Kwacha, time rate of change of positrons passing a fixed point in space, and the number of B29 threads currently active.

You are ;)
Fact is, if a kill isn't counted for rank purposes (such as in your example), it is not used for the K/D computation as well. If you kill a M3 while in fighter mode, the kill does not even appear on the score page. (It does, however, appear in your killstats)

Bruv, he was only referring to their K/D rank, not their overall fighter ranks

my bad,
apart from all the other suggestions rank only gets updated once a day and scores are pretty much real time.
give it awhile and i'm sure it will rank yourself lower.
-
Well the rank reset and now mine is slightly higher, but for overall his is still higher. When it takes all of those into account, I'm not sure how it is working things. His is almost 100 lower yet my k/d ration etc is better.
I did figure out by all of this that spawning, realizing that I'm facing the wrong way and despawning is not good for stats as it lowers your k/d ratio obviously.
I'm trying to figure out the BEST way to gauge overall performance and improvement over time.
I'm creating a database now that will do all this myself taking numbers from the website, with hi-tech's permission - I could post this as a plugin. I probably won't finish it until summer sometime though as I am busy.
It will then pull and mash data to create much larger tables, including comparison and contrast with any player that has logged in the past 30 days.
