Missed it too -- but now that I think about it, wasnt the Mig a low wing (or lower mid wing) aircraft?

Yeah, there is a definite difference. If ya compare the two side by side, the La-15 has a shorter fuselage than the Mig 17. The wings on the La-15 are also more elevated.

I was orginally going to say Mig-15, because the wing had 2 wing fences not 3 as on the Mig-17. Then I looked closer at the wing and saw that it was a high-wing not a mid-wing, like the Mig. This had me scratching my head, so I Googled Early russian jets.
I thought it might be a early prototype of Mig or a one off, untill I stumbled uppon the La-15.
That was a nice Puzzler.:aok
