Im in the middle of skinning 109E White 3 in the N africa Campaign. However Im now on the rivets, and time is limited for me, I just cant find the time to complete the rivets. I was wondering if anybody had a template of the rivets they could possibly share with me. It would be much appreciated, I would love to see the skin complete but I just dont have the time. The rivets are the final things to be done, part from weathering. Anybody got a template of rivets for me? Please?
-
Didn't I send you the template? Didn't it have basic rivets on it?
EDIT: Or was that Croduh??
-
croduh. I never got any files from you. I got a little help with the skin, but part from that, all on my own. Though, If you could divert that file to me would be bril! :D
-
Well if you can wait at least 3-4 hours I can send it to you, but with the time zone difference you might want to just check tomorrow (unless you stay up all night, which I've done on skins before!)
I can send you a PSD file with just the rivets layer. They'll be 100% black square pixels, you'll have to change opacity, blending, and make any duplicates or effects that you want to on your own.
-
Thats perfect Krusty, and I can wait. Im up most of the night anyway, just too tired to concentrate on the rivets. :( Damn hard work!

Here are the rivets I used for my two Emil skins. They are blured because I use the "drop shadow" effect and it makes them look round. I dont think I can undo the bluring, but if you want to use them here they are.

Thanks Larry. Its much appreciated. Ive saved three versions of my skin. One with my rivets( About a wing and a half of a fusalage) One with your rivets, and if and when I recieve Krusty's, I shall save it with his. I shall then check them all out and decide which one I rather have on my skin. Thanks Larry again.
-
If you like the way his look, why wait for me? :D
I'll send 'em later tonight, whether you use 'em or not I won't be offended.
-
Because I may like the way yours look better! Simple As! Im working on the nose art at this second, so I will be up for a bit longer. Looking forward to recieving your file Krusty!

Sent to the e-mail listed in squad forum.

I dont know if you do this yet, but a little word of advice to make rivets look real nice. do the same as you do with panel lines, duplicate the layer make it a change it to a screen, and then adjust opacity/fill. then offset it 1px in each direction. (matching panel line highlights). gives cool 3d rivet affect ingame.

I never received any templates.
Or was it my evil twin ....
-
Apparently it was just somebody else Cro. Can't recall
-
Well, ive looked at Krusty's rivets, and Ive chosen to go with Larry's. Sorry Krusty, but I just prefer his. Thanks again Larry. Its much appreciated
-
No worries! Like I said, the layer I sent you was without any effects, blending, all that good stuff, meaning you'd have to do all the work yerself :D
If TKs looked better, that just means your skin will look better :aok

I know you posted this on the squad forum, but a lot of skinners have asked this, and there are a lot of folks here than can help you aside from myself.
Weathering usually takes up half the layers I put on a skin, maybe a bit less than half, but many!
For the details you want stains, streaks, smoke clouds, for gas caps, oil drips, and exhaust pipes, and what-not. Things to think of: smudges around access panels, scuffs by the pilot walk areas, gunsmoke residue by wing guns, dirt or mud splashes by the wheels, and any number of things you want.
For the most part it is just creating a new layer and painting the color you want where you want it, then changing the opacity and the blending. Try different brushes if you're not happy with the effect.
For general weathering, you need to break up the solid-color-pixel area of all your camouflage. Some of us skinners employ a type of "dirt cloud" -- that when reduced in opacity and blended properly is very subtle but breaks up the color patterns and adds to the look of the finished skin.

Yeah, so make with the advice dispensing, winner! :p

All I do is use PhotoShopCS use a black 1 pixel dot spaced 595% and make the rivets. Then use the drop shadow and make the "shadow" white or gray then blur it and that makes them look round in the game.

Same here, only I sent him layers without any effects, just the pixels.
-
