Title: Old bug in TE?
Post by: BlauK on May 11, 2007, 03:28:18 AM
It seems that TE again hogs all CPU resources if it is minimized or gets covered with another window. I think this occured also in some earlier version, but got fixed. Now it is back :(

Has anyone else noticed this?

I haven't noticed any bigger problems with it, even when minimized.
Maybe it's the other program causing this for you?

No BlauK.  Lately I'm usually running a bunch of stuff all at the same time. For fun I launched Excel, Thunderbird, icq, Visual Studio, Firefox, Word and MS Paint while having the TE both in the foreground and back ground (in XP.) The bad thing is this isn't unusual combination for me but so far nothing really bad has happened.

Peak CPU usage hit 50% briefly with application changes, memory usage is holding steady at 410 MB.

Intel P4, ATI 9800 Pro, Soundblaster, NIC card.

But have you noticed tha TE eats up more CPU if it gets minimized or coveres by another window?

It is not a big problem with my new dual core laptop, but my 2,5 yrs old desktop almost freezes with TE hogging 95+ % of the CPU in those situations.

I haven't put the TE on my P3 machine yet but no, this hasn't been a problem on my P4 machine. As I said, the largest cpu usage I saw was 50%, for the blink of an eye actually, and it was back down to ~12-14%.

Peeks indicate the TE minimized. It is almost impossible to work with any other program together.
