Title: dont know where to post this exactly but.....
Post by: betty on May 12, 2007, 01:33:28 AM
a while ago i applied for a CM team position.....

seems like i have had to jump thru many hoops to get on it and still have been over looked as far as getting on it....and frankly.....

I'M TIRED of all the hoop and no longer can take it

i have been playin AH for 2 and half years and have flown in every event that has been done.

i want to formally withdrawl my application for the CM team as i feel that i am bein over looked for other reasons....i maybe ban'd from the forums because of this or whatever but i'm to the point in my AH life that i feel like things just aren't handled fairly.

it is my understanding that there is a great need for the CM team and i would luv to have been a part of it but at this point i'm done.

so if anyone could possibly pass this on to nef or roc i would greatly appreciate it.

You could probably PM one of them or send them an e mail.  They are both fairly active on the board as far as I know.  Sorry to hear about your withdrawal though.

I also tried Betty.  BelethCH did what  he could to get me accepted, but I was turned down for "not having the right attitude"  because I didn't take any of Laz's crap in a thread long ago.  You, on the other hand, have a great attitude and would be a great addition.

Campaign Manager - Volunteer staff members who design, maintain and host events as well as maps/terrains typically hosted in the Special Events or Axis and Allies arena.

If you click the "Calendar" tab at the very top of the forums (they go User CP, Register, Calendar, FAQ, Search, Log Out and Home) you will see a the schedule for special events for the month.

Hope to see you (and Betty) there!

Good for you Betty..  if they were punks, which would not be surprising, there's nothing wrong with a good old public kick in the junk. Eff'em in the Donkey hole.

You should be in charge of whatever the CM team is... then I, and others who could care less, might even pay attention and participate.

listen..i didnt post this cuz i wanted to piss ppl off or make a scene, i honestly didnt know at the time that i should do it in PM. i'm sorry for postin this here.

for those who dont know what the CM team does, maybe u should try to get into the events in the SEA, they work their arses off for us to have fun in there and that was big reason why i wanted to be a part of it....my fav is KOTH and FSO. check them out if u get the chance....they always welcome new squads to participate in FSO and everyone is wanted in a good KOTH event.

please dont think badly of the CM team for this, i just need explanation on whats goin on and why.

The attempt to embarass the CM Team has failed.....based upon what I am reading.

Class and dignity would have prevented the use of the forum for this nonsense.   The desire to garner support went south.

The impetulence of youth......   :)

Good luck.

way to judge a good group of people who dedicate tons of there free time, to help make the game more enjoyable, what have you done to help improve the game.  The CM's can't post on this but I can. Ignorance is bliss.

So if you want to start kickin people in the junk, start with yourself

btw I realize that it is this type of post I put up that would keep me out of the CM team.

well talonx.....ur takin this the wrong way and so r many others...but oh well ...it was not intended on a jab or insult to anyone on the CM team, they r great bunch of guys and i repect them all and i luv doin the events....i just wanted some answers and i went about it the wrong way, i guess i didnt think bout where to post my comment. i'm far from bein a youth and if u actually knew who i was u wouldnt say i was youth but what ppl think isnt a big deal to me anymore.

i got burned out on the game, my squad and the fact that i applied for the CM team was what kept me on here and playin, there for bout 2 months i quit goin in the MA's and only logged in for FSO...lots of ppl know this....i am concidering letting my account go. dont know for sure what i am doin but i'm sure i will figure it out soon.

Your getting caught up in the moment is what you are doing. If you don't want to become a part of the CM team then e-mail them or PM them. You claim that you have been playing for two years. Then you should know how things work around here. Threads like this in BBS is not the way to go. This thread screams 'I want attention' Then you go further to vaguely accuse them of discrimination. When that doesn't work you move to the "i am concidering letting my account go" bit.

No offense meant, betty, but if you were burning out on the game, I don't think you would/could bring the proper passion to the CM team.  Based on your own admission, IMO they made the right decision.

I'm sorry things didn't work out the way you wanted.  If you choose to leave, good luck in your next endeavors.

Betty, basically you're a good egg and fun to banter with on Ch 200. In this case though, more than a few of the responders, of which I'm one, are suggesting you take up your discontent with the CM Team, rather than vocalize your concerns on the HTC GD boards. When you bring it into a public forum, which you have, it shows a lack of discretion on your part.

My take on it is you wanted to take it "public" intentionally. Why else post it in GD? Your ego was hurt so now you want vindication from the general public. Sorry Betty but that's the way to go about it.

i think that she would be a great addition to any aspect of this game and i am getting the distinct impression that her requests up to this point have been ignored or put off in such a way that she felt it imperative to bring light to it.

i am guessing of course, but i am basing this on the responses of those already on the CM team.  is there a rule somewhere that says that requests must be made in private?

as for her delivery...good for her.  it's not called a community for nothin.

Adding a knowledgeable and popular player like betty would be an improvement to the game. Let the players vote on it?, lets test the 'team' wisdom of ignoring good players volunteering to help, eh?

Maybe they're frightened of girls?.. I'm sure theres a team medic who could administer a cootie shot.

Didn't realize it was a popularity contest. As far as I am aware - which isn't very far admittedly but at least I participate in CM run events, so I'm speaking with a little more than the zero knowledge you possess - the reverse is true. A CM has to make tough decisions and often against people they know in the community, aye, friends. Popularity is the last thing that should be considered when appointing a CM.

Let the players vote on it? I think that sounds rather obtuse. Let the current CM's choose someone they feel they can work with. I also think that HTC might have something to say about a player vote on giving "random applicant" access to the arena settings on one of their servers.

maybe you should find out all the facts before you post and don't make assumptions, hope you don't do your police work like that.

The CM team did not exclude her, it came from above them, but you already knew that right?

Please Betty don't give up.

I read about this and how you are presently feeling in the AMA Quarterly.

This usually happens to many of the Flight Sim Female PileIts, all of the French Male PileIts and some of the Male CanaDUHian PileIts.

It's actually called PMCMS. (Pre Menstrual Campaign Manager Syndrome)

Here are a few of the symptoms you may be feeling right now.

1.  The uncontrollable urges to fly a Sim and Kill everybody.

2.  The need to control others destinys.

3.  The wanting of others to find you extremely attractive on Channel 200.

4.  Secretively wanting others to Check Yer 6.

5.  Finding yerself young, dateless and free flying a Cartoon on a Pay Day Friday night.... alone, again... naturally.

6.  Prolonged periods of AFK as you bury your face into a pillow screaming
"Why didn't I just cut throttle?????."

7.  Nightly cold sweats and waking to find empty buckets of Blue Bell Icecream near the puter.

8.  Repetitively checking yer score and countless of foes scores to find yer place in the Sim.

9.  Posting in the wrong Forums.

and the eventual worse symptom evar..

10.  Driving long distances wearing Adult diapers, carrying wigs, lotsa money, pepper spray and maps to Grapevine Texas to just chat with Skuzzy.

Fear NOT Betty...Do not take that as a rejection. It may just be a Hormoanal setback but there will soon be a cure.

Hugs and <<>> Betty,

Mac

Same same. We'd love to fly in the Squad opps events. But ,for us, starting at 11:00 at night just isn't feesable. The HARM missions really do the trick, but are often effected by ENY , not allowing us to use the AVA or midwar arenas, and get stuck in a pizza MA. Too bad really. Theres quite a large group of fliers that could add a lot to any event that are just ignored.

Heh!  That's telling them!  (Oh wait, I'm one of those punks!  D'oh!)

The CM team is made up of a bunch of players who volunteer to do the admin work behind the various special events.  There are different groups of us for each of the different types of special events -- for example, I work on scenarios with the several other scenario CM's, but I don't work on Friday Squad Ops or the air racing, etc., which are different groups.  Each group handles its area and sort of takes lead on getting new CM's to work in its team.

Because the CM team is composed of all regular-player volunteers, organization is a bit more loose than if it were a business or a group working in the military or some other organization where the activity is an  avocation.

Nevertheless, the CM's I know (which is most of them) are a good bunch of folks working to apply some of their spare time to help make special events happen.  They want to do a good job, and they don't mean to insult anyone or piss anyone off.  In this case, I'm sure folks will be in touch with Betty and work to smooth things out, although they might be careful to keep their donkey holes covered just in case. :)

Now, on a separate topic -- I think you should play in the upcoming scenario Operation Husky to get more exposure to CM, special-event types of things.  Scenarios are where ex Marines should definitely participate!  Expecially this one -- the allied invasion of Sicily.  I even think there is one of the landing areas called "xMarine beach" if I recall correctly.

Here's a link to more info in case of any interest:

The upcoming scenario special event is at a time that might work for you.  It's on Saturdays in June at 3 pm Eastern Daylight Time US.  We'd love to have you and your whole squad join.

Thanks for the invite Brooke. But unfortunately most of us (30's & 40's) are spending time with the family or whatnot during the mid day. I've tried making these before, and it never works out. If you could swing these to EST primetime (7:00-10:00 PM) that would not only be cool...I'd buy beers and pizza. :)

That is an excellent recruiting inducement!  There have been events in the past later on Saturday, but then folks complain that they want to have Saturday night free.  Then there is Europe, where if we make it too late in the US, it is 3 am for them  (London is +5 hours from EDT).  It would be better for the Australians, though.  It's very hard to pick a time that works best.

Yeah, makes it tough. We'd be happy with one night a week, even if only for a few hours.

Either way, the effort you folks put out is greatly appreciated. I know as a former CM in a couple of different universes the work involved, and hope no offence was taken. Because most certainly none was intended.

Thanks but as Magic said its tough getting everyone together that early in the day. Eastern/Central prime time hours are better.
