I used to play aces high a long time ago. I wasn't all that good, but i loved the game because my dad's a pilot. Anyway, I loved the community (for the most part) and mostly everybody was friendly.
But, I wasn't all that great of a pilot, like I said earlier. Unfortunately for me, I'm also only 13 years old. Nobody would want to train me because of my age (which I think is totally gay) And I REALLY needed training. I think... after playing for about 5 months, I finally got a grip of the game and (if I was lucky) I could get about 2 kills a day.
Anyway, if anybody will be willing to HELP me... I would absolutely LOVE to play this game again.
:)

Atleast give me some tips or two... or three. Or maybe if I could hang out with someone/something and learn a thing or two from
-
There are actual trainers for AH and/or a training arena. If you can hunt me down when we are both on, I'd be happy to help you out, as long as you don't act like some of the people in your age group in the game i.e. squeakers. They spend more time making people mad and trying to be lil generals more than learning to play. If you are serious, I'll help ya out & teach you the right way to play. Send me a PM letting me know when you are usually on.

It might be kinda hard to catch up with her, but shcatzi is an very good instructor and a good person.http://trainers.hitechcreations.com/
Try this link for help and a list of instructors. Sadly most of this game is made up of middle age men who have grown tired of a few bad apples that have come along before you. Meaning a few "squeakers" as they are called get to excited on the radio and dont know how to act. Just have some thick skin and keep tryin.

it's not gay, it;s child abuse,
Michael Jackson's shades are drooling

Many in the AH community are 30-50 range. Many have kids. Many do not want to look after YET another kid in their life.
Cheers!

Also, read a lot of the Useful Links under Community on the AH page. You can learn alot on how to bomb, use air combat manuevers, and find out which plane does what (turn and burn, BnZ, what is faster etc).
There's always people willing to help in the Training Arena.
-
thanks guys... believe it or not, I actually do take it seriously
I am WAAY into this kinda' stuff. (MY dad's a pilot) And I just love it those few times when I clip of somebody's wings and have them gently float down to earth and die :)
Anyway... Im really serious.
-
USRanger summed it up really well. The squeaky 'lil generals' have turned off a lot of folks to the kids in the game, but that shouldn't discourage you. To be taken seriously you'll need a paid account, which will provide access to fly with the people in this thread who've offered to help. More importantly, it will put you in the main arenas where you can be picked up by an older squad which will help you climb the game's step learning curve. Squads are always looking for new people that will fit in with their membership, so it all depends on if you can 'play nice' with the big kids.:aok
-
Luckily, I've had about 3 paid accounts already. I'm going on my 4th.. and if I'm better this time I may get REALLY addicted. What I love most is those big surprise missions with about 50 people. I love those... the enemy usually figures out what's going on and then there's a huge war
I'm always bomber... and I'm always one of the last bombers to dye.

What the hell does training have to do with age?

Simple, people don't like to train 'squeakers'
-
People are unwilling to help out the idiots that come into the MA's with questions like "how do I start the engine", "what's the best plane", etc.
My advice; Read Read Read.
Read the Support/Help section above, visit the AH Trainers web-site and Netaces. Read everything in the Help forum. Read everything in the Aircraft and Vehicles forum. then...
Practice Practice Practice.
Then if you still need more training sign up to meet a trainer in the TA.
Most of the rest of us are here to unwind (although some actually get wound up), kill a few cartoon airplanes and have some fun.
-
I know how to start my plane, shoot, adjust flaps, bring gears up, land, take off, and of course... shoot. I just need some practice practice practice
-
Then go to the TA, TA, TA.
Stop talking about it and do it.
There are trainers there most of the time and they WANT to help you.

people enjoy helping others now? The world has changed...
Anyway, I don't have the GAME any more. I said I would get it if I got any support. now that I have support my fricking dad won't let me get it because he sais Im already suscribing to another thing. I'm thuroughly convinced I'm not...
Anyway, once the long battle is over i'll be playing playing playing

Well, if you're dad's going to pay for it once you tell him to cancel whatever else is showing up on his credit card, that's great.
But OTOH, $15 a month shouldn't be very hard to earn, even if you are only 13. Mow a lawn or two or walk some dogs.
In the meanwhile, as BaldEagl said, read, read, read.
Once you get the game, do three things:
Find a trainer, either official or regular player, and pay attention to what they say.
Find a guy in the TA who's about the same skill level as you, and practice, practice, practice with him 1 v 1.
Find a guy who's much better than you and go duel him once in awhile so that you can judge your progress. The first few times, you'll be destroyed in short order. Don't get discouraged. After much practice, you'll start to live longer, and maybe one day, with a lot of work (which is suprisingly fun in this game), you'll match him.
Good luck :aok

Fly what you want, fly how you like, and laugh when you get called a dweeb.

God bless the gentlemen who have the patience to train the under-aged. I unfortunately waste all my patience on the 'wife.' For me its an age-discrimination thing. I will admit if a 'squeaker' asks how do you change countries, I certainly will reply with Alt-F4 or you have to unsubscribe and resubscribe.
For me the MA is mindless dogfighting and the occassional mission base cap (too few and not frequent enough). FSO and SEA is where the mindlessness stops.
-
My allowance is 40$ a month... :)
-
Download the game and start practicing in the 8 player arenas. You can get lots of target practice in there ;) The risk is that you get stuck on a quite low skill level. Not saying that everyone in 8 players suck.

This is a great game and much like in real life there are a lot of really good people that will bend over backwards to help you and a lot of people who will take unnecessary pot shots at you.
If you're completely serious and get an account I'll pass on anything from my thimblefull of knowledge to help you out. I'm usually in the TA or the AVA so feel free to look me up. (call sign Dichodog)
I know a young man about a year older than you who is a really good stick so skill and age are mutually exclusive.
You've gotten some good advice in this thread I hope you take it to heart.
Good luck young man
-
*gasp* I've been called a young man.
Thank you all for your support you guys, I have started up my acct again (and yes... I won the battle between my dad and I's fighting.) Anyhow... once I run this virus scan I'll be in one of the Late MA's
-
Just a suggestion from a dad 4 times over ... do a little extra around the house for a couple of months.
Good luck :aok

Agree with Dicho, because eventually you will want a decent stick/throttle set up and being on good terms with the parental unit(s) makes getting it much easier.
Another word of advice ... spend most of your time in the early/late war arenas and the training area. I'm 99% convinced the late war arenas are 99% of the reason given by the people who quit in the first couple (up to 6) months. The people in there can be brutal, both in the skies and on 200.
Just my $.02.
Good luck!
