Check this out, namely the last paragraph...
 http://www.gamesdomain.com/gdreview/sim.html (http://www.gamesdomain.com/gdreview/sim.html)

Kinda came off as a lame zinger at HTC.  Maybe I read it wrong, but still kinda made me raise my eyebrowes and think "What a putz" this editorial fella is.

Maybe someday WE can all be as S-M-A-R-T as their holiness    :D
-
Thats why he's a "reviewer" and not a programmer.

-
Steve asked about dropping paratroopers on top of captured territory
 =====
Wat in de hell is dis guy talking aboot?
-
Warbirds and Fighter Ace never competed against retail games, yet these have somehow managed to avoid the layoffs, killed projects and bad publicity of their retail brethren.
Right... If Warbirds is so insanely successful, we would not be flying Aces High.

The programmer mentioned that they still needed to complete a few aircraft. Why not open the architecture and let fans do the dirty work? ... Sure, it will create a small mess, but isn’t a large following worth it?
Small mess? Mr. Brewer has a talent for understatement.

That has to be one of the "much more poorly" written articles I've read in ages  :)

Hehehe....you may write better but I TALK GOODER!

 :D
-
Another fine example of someone puting his 2¢ in, and deserving change for the value of their idea.  What a bozo...but then again, I say that about so many clueless reviewers  :D

-
				Say it outloud..

 M-O-R-O-N!

 :p

That's another case of a FPS Quake nerd trying to generalize flight sims based on what little things he's picked up.
-
e-mail the "salamander" and let him know just how much of a "fool" he looks like

				>>The programmer mentioned that they still needed to complete a few aircraft. Why not open the architecture and let fans do the dirty work?<<

Great idea, I can make a P51 that flies like an F16, hovers like a Harrier, harder than a tank, with unlimited ammo.  ;)

 >>Open the game and let someone else think of these things and solve those problems. Sure, it will create a small mess, but isn’t a large following worth it?<<

This would even be better idea, no dar bar, no dar dots, (except in the tower), no icons, low fog, and continus night.  We can all fly around and sneak up on each other  :D

Proof that any idiot can be published on the internet.  I think games like AH are the best kept secret in the sim world.

YEah! If 10 year old nerds can put out a Quake CTF mod, why in the hell they couldnt put out simple aerodynamic model of 1942 built warbird?!

I mean, you can find everything from the internet (like popsicle and linux hax0ring guides!), just type "FM code of Ki-61" and you find maybe even ready source code to copy paste RIGHT!?

The guns are the simpliest part, i know, ive made lazer sn1p3R mod to quake!

I've read some reviews by this guys.

His colleagues nicknamed him Ty 'no black-outs please' Brewer. Can you imagine that the guy who reviews hardcore sims gets annoyed by black-outs??
I guess the reviewer in charge of FPS games doesn't like guns...

The other reviews on that site aint too shabby either..

BoB review: the hurricane shows its famous ruggedness (- pretty well said of the fabric coated plane that took fire usually from first hits.. LOL.)

In all fairness, even pilots don't agree on whether or not blackouts should be modelled.

I guess what pissed me off was the condescending remarks he aimed at HiTech Creations.  If everyone listened to this guy, in his mind, all games would be *perfect*.  I duno, its one thing to carry an opinion and publish it (we all do it here!)...but its another to prop oneself up and assume they are the God's of their field.

Please tell me this guy is a Aces High player.  I got a Lancaster full of iron for him   :D
-
				LOL Heater!

I took yer suggestion and just sent him this email..

Hiya. Just read your review of Aces High.

 Got one comment for yah...

 Your stupidity is showing.

 Have a nice day.

 Hangtime

Maybe more of us should follow suit.  :)

Anyone that gives that guy any credability deserves what they get!

Article corrections per your article posted at this site: http://www.gamesdomain.com/gdreview/sim.html (http://www.gamesdomain.com/gdreview/sim.html)

"Warbirds and Fighter Ace never competed against retail games, yet these have
somehow managed to avoid the layoffs, killed projects and bad publicity of their retail
brethren. Why? Why has Warbirds grown
stronger when other flight sims appear
 sickly? Because Warbirds is profitable"

Not entirely true. iEN stock is currently
trading at 10¢ a share and they've laid off
33 people in the past year. Profitable? I
 think not.

 "Steve Danielsson recently interviewed HiTech
Creations, developers of the upcoming Aces
High online game. The programmer mentioned
that they still needed to complete a few
aircraft. Why not open the architecture and
let fans do the dirty work? Steve asked about
dropping paratroopers on top of captured
territory and was told “Gee, I didn’t think
about that.” That’s the point. Open the game
and let someone else think of these things
and solve those problems. Sure, it will
create a small mess, but isn’t a large
 following worth it?"

Upcoming? Aces High has only been
around since July of 99. I've been there
since December of 99 with the same account,
so it's hardly upcoming. Dropping troops
behind enemy lines to capture fields has been
done since BETA back in 99, so I believe
Steve Danielsson is blowing it out his mule
on that one.  Lemme get this straight; a
 community-developed sim where the programmers
let people lose with text files ala Rogue
Spear mods? ROFLMAO Now I think you're
 blowing it out your mule!!

(c'mon iq, we know yer in there!)

 Have a nice day

...and he did say he wrote it a year ago in his midly peeved reply.

Still dum as rocks; I say.  :)
