Title: Why 3 Sides?

I have flown AH2 for some time now and I have a simple question. Why do we have 3 sides? Hitech trys to keep things WW2 ish and thats respectable! Seems like to me we should try, for a day even, a 2 sided map. We could use one of the scenario maps that are already designed. I wont demand an answer from hitech but I would seriously hope they have some input. I dont gripe about the game often (maybe what occurs in it tho) so I hope my question will be taken seriously.

believe HTC tried 2,3,4, and found that 3 sides worked best.

With all do respect thats not an answer more so a statement. Id like to know why......not the 5 page essay mind you.....but a paragraph or to why 2-4 countries failed where 3 succeded. Call me a pain.:D


Id fly AvA all the time if there was a fight to be had! :(

Come there most nights at about 6-7PM CST theres a few people in there. All oyu need is 6-10 people to get a great fiht going.

Three pie shaped countries have a longer front line and less depth than you'd get on a map with two countries. It allows for more possibilities of conflict and less wasted space.

To make it 4 sides, you need another name. ...  Pawns? inferior feeling, Queens or Kings? much superior beings,(and more over, how can there be many Queen"s", or King"s"?)  So dropped the idea.

right ? hmmm... (well, though I remember the time when AH countries were named after colors ... )

CFYA I am not an authority but I have been playing air sims for quite a while and have some experience. We asked the same question back in AW and I think they are the same reasons here.

Basically the logic that was put forth was that with only 2 teams it may be very likely that one team could suppress the only other team indeffinately. This would be a real show stopper and create a lot of frustration on the team that was being suppressed. With a third team in the mix it was generally thought that no one team could suppress or dominate two other teams indeffinately.

IIRC it seemed that the presence of GRIEF players in the online gaming community had a lot to do with this. Since the companies that sponsor online games charge a user fee to play I think this is only  protecting both their investment and your ability to participate and have fun.

I dont really want to address the little nitpicky things about having 3 sides because I believe the reasons I stated above are fairly sound. Yes there are some trade offs but overall it seems to be working in online gaming.

I think Blooz's answer was what I was looking for. Kaybayray also brought up some interesting points. I had hope to get Hitechs input but I get the feeling your input was based from his remarks so close enough for government work!:D

Personally Id like to see it tried again but I am only 15 bucks! I know the greater good is the ultimate goal. Keep up the good work Hitech. I cant wait to see the B-25!(in my sights........muwhahaha...... jk)

I would just like to add a thought of mine.....Its amazing how even tho the 3 sides should be ideally the same there are vast differences. Rooks have more than there fair share of sqeakers, knits have an overall lack of talent pool(very good players but seems like not many to go around), and Bish seems like its one for all or 1 big mission.

Nope.

Just change "Air Warrior" to "Aces High" and A, B and C land to Rooks, Knights, and Bishops.

Yes I agree. We are FAR too superior to mingle with you sub-players in Bishland and Knitland. Rookland should be elevated to a plane above your pitiful little countries, so we can rightfully look down on you like GODS!

Why 3?

Why do they use triangles in structures?

Why are there 3 branches of the US government (as opposed to 2, or 4)?

Because if one side gets outa whack, the other two together can rein it in.


Hypothetically, I mean. In this game seems the 2 most outta whack pile on top of the underdog, because most folks still don't realize the "win the war" conditions have changed.
