Title: Hilarious smoker`s moment
Post by: Jackal1 on May 15, 2007, 01:29:33 PM
Took the car into the dealership in Big D this morning to get it`s 7K checkup , etc.
I stepped outside, under the covered entranceway to the service area to have a smoke. Just before I fired up the ole Zippo to get my seven second jolt I happened to look to my left for some reason. About 15 yards upwind of me stood the poster child for Yup magazine yapping away on the cellie looking my direction. When I flipped the the lid a total look of horror came over his face. He attempted to run to make his escape from this horrible, fire breathing creature, but Ooooooopsie........he misnavigated the curb and face planted.
I couldn`t help it..........I cracked up like a hyena on crack.
:rofl :aok
The Goober is standing next to about ten or eleven idling cars. In the distance you can see the beautiful , smog infested skyline and a few stacks spewing God only knows what and the moron is concerned about a cig being lit downwind of him.

Proof that second hand smoke is hazardous to one's health.

I would have lit another one and asked if he wanted it.

LOL

A while ago I had lit a cig and was smoking it on my bike on the way home.  I exhaled just as a girl on a bike pulled up to my left and the smoke went into her face.  She began to fake splutter and frantically waved her hand in front of her face to clear the air.

Then the light went green and she took off trying to get away from this dreadful fire breather.  I don't know what was wrong with her bike but smoke absolutely BILLOWED out of her exhaust and the whole road behind her became and continued to be an oily smoke screen as she zoomed off.

She pulled off to the right to park and have a drink (I assume) in a bar up the street.  As I went past her I gave her a look very similar to the one she gave me and I waved my hand frantically in front of my face as I went by.

So, it didn't occur to you to check downwind before the cancer celebration? Your cone of awareness doesn't extend 3ft beyond your face?  huh, ok.

I would have apologised but she took off and coated me in smoke and soot from her oily exhaust.

I doubt she even considered an apology was warrented and probably went all MrFish about it with her friends in the bar.  :)

The non-smokers have been the minority for a while, but now the tide is turning and we all know that as a minority, our rights will be thrust upon those majority in the interest of our civil rights....beat that yuppies!

_______edit

Ok, so that was a slight hijack, sorry. the story was rather humorous till Oct showed up with his moral righteousness.

common courtesy perhaps?  why should i move for an action you decided to take?  I'm annoyed by cig smoke on the interstate from the car in front of me, you think I can't smell that crap 15 yards away?  Accidents I can understand, but oblivious bastards that knowingly blow smoke at me are *******s, nothing more.

I think he was saying that the guy was going crazy over a cigarette while he was standing next to several idling cars releasing hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide, etc.

Yep.

P.S.  Reminds me of how PETA kills animals so other people can't harm them.

Tough.
Inside thats one thing. I can buy the arguement
Outside, well thats just too damn bad
Hold yer breath.

How about recognisng that outside it is a free realm. And expressing some  common courtesy yourself
You probably stand a far greater risk just from beathing pollutants in the air from cars, factories etc then the little bit of smoke you might be inconvenienced by and would be whining about.

I'm not denying I'd laugh if he fell (I'd pry piss myself).  The point is, jackal was at close range and knowingly decided to light it.

I was in the middle of that very dense smoke cloud in Florida last week, and I probably took in the equivalent of a few packs.  Normal smokers even refused their smokey treats at work.  So Friday, my passenger comments on the way home that the smoke couldn't get any worse... a few seconds later he lights up... while affirming his previous assessment of smoke quantitiy.  We were already irritated and this turd lights up!  If I had no relation, he'd still be walking home.

This ain't fog.  Like wiping ash off your windshield?

You slaves to nicotine can go nuts for all I care, just have some common courtesy and piss off when you light.

HAH!  Sure, free realm.  I totally agree it is an inconvenience.  So why should I react if you decide the initial move?  What if my children are around?  With severe asthma?  An emphasema sufferer with O2 tank?   Point is, it's easier for you to bend first;  move a few feet away and kill yourself in peace, jesus christ.

You have no argument.

I find it much more offensive to be forced to sit next to someone who hasn't taken a bath in a year.  When is a law going to be made about that?

Maybe I dont need an arguement.
Outside is a free realm.
Period.
Im supposed to bend simply because its an inconvenience to you??
LMAO I dont think so
So what if your kids are around
If you dont like it. if its such an inconvenience ...move.
Or..dont breathe.
Your call

I've bent as far as Im going to bend. Outside is where I draw the line

You already cant smoke inside any public place in this state. Including privately owned and run establishments. (seems to me the business owner should be the one to make that call)

That is. Unless you own a Casino

It's now illegal to even smoke near the entrance of a building, so smokers have fewer and fewer places to go.

Anti-smoking tyraids piss me off when it is a case of having a smoke outside....

-But-

Smoker or non-smoker, common courtesy is a positive personality trait and it simply comes down to the person to decide whether or not their smoking out-weighs other people's 'comfort'.

In most cases, I would be inclined to say that, given fresh air is available and it is not an enclosed space, the smoker is fine to smoke wherever the law permits them to do so.

I would also make an effort to move away from children before I lit my cigarette, as I detest parents who smoke near their children.

If i can, I'll sit down-wind or away from people but I'm not about to bust my balls doing so... smokers have already got **** all places to smoke.

Imagine how ****ing BAD pubs are going to smell when you go to gigs when they ban smoking in venues. Instead of the smell of smoke you'll have the smell of piss and sweaty, fat salamanders instead.

**** that.

I do look around and avoid other humans when I fire up.....

But the world will fail to end because I am....OUTDOORS.

Personally...I find people who yap-yap-yap on a cell phone and include me in their personal phone booth when I am in a restaraunt, movie theatre, store, etc. equally as thoughtless.  If It's OUTSIDE...they they might as well be smoking a big, stinky stogie.

Is the sun bright red Octavius?  We had that same phenomena a few years ago also due to major wild fires, the ash was so thick you could look directly at the sun, was just a bright orange globe.

I used to smoke and, now that I've quit, I've become severely allergic to it.  If I smell it I look for the source and avoid it.  Personal opinion is if a smoker is doing it where it is allowed and it bothers you DON'T GO THERE OR MOVE.  If it's not possible it's pretty easy to tell someone who is smoking, politely, that it's bothering you.  I've found that well over 90% of the people that are smoking where you can't avoid it will apologize for bothering you and put it out or move.  The 10%?  Well they're stunninghunks.

And could we PLEASE quit treating smoker like lepers?  The dude that fell on his face got what he deserved for acting like a tard.

15 yards, that's 45 feet for those with a strictly public school education, can hardly be considered close range, especially outdoors and downwind of the yuppie.  Let me guess: You're one of those AH players who think that range 1500 is "point-blank".:rofl

Well i got a laugh outta this one-

Myself and a couple of other techs were doing a fios install at a cust house. As a RULE among ourselves we dont smoke the cust house. (also a co. rule) We also dont smoke when a cust is outside and close by as a courtesy, unless they light up then we ask if its ok if we do while OUTSIDE.
Well we were outside in the ALLY actually when the custs wife come out with murder in her eyes. She DEMANDS we pack up and leave becouse we DARED smoke on her property!! After calmly pointing out that
A) we were in the ally
B) on break
C) if we left it would be a few weeks before we could reschedual
She still DEMANDED we leave. She then called the Co. and said we were intentionally smoking on her property during the install and REFUSED to put em out and we were rude.
Thankfully our boss isnt stupid and 86'ed the complaint. 4 WEEKS later we returned to finish and the hubby was there.
He was pissed until we told him what REALLY happended.
He then went inside lite up a cigar and invited us in and .....told us to smoke!
It was kinda funny when she got home and he told her to stfu when whe whined about it.

Moral of the story i guess is that some non-smokers as in many many other groups have their crazy fanantics that have no sense of reality and think that if you dont think and do what they do and say then you are a bad person/outkast

It's like one mentally-challenged woman screaming at me: "YOU!!! Don't you UNDERSTAND!!! I can't eat THIS bread - your dog SNIFFED my plastic bag!!!".

Some people just ain't friends with their own brain.

I already posted it here: until late-1960s it wasn't prohibited to smoke in Moscow subway. Just noone smoked.

If someone asks me politely to throw away my smoke - I don't mind, and I do it easily. But if they scream at me and use newspeak as "human rights", "passive smoking" and so on - **** them, I'll blow smoke into their twisted faces. I am happy to live in a pathetically politically-incorrect country.

"If you don't like the smell - then leave, and the smell will disappear with you"

LOL Close range? Geez.
No, the point is, if you go back and read the post again the moron was standing next to quite few idling cars and you might recall I mentioned I was in Big D...skyline smog, factories....etc. ,etc. I also didn`t mention that they were redoing part of the parking lot at the corner of the building , real close to where he was standing and were laying hot mix asphalt. He`s worried about cig smoke? Go figure.
I also didn`t mention that he was standing in the smoking area where the smoke trees are located. Maybe he thought those things were booster repeaters for better cell phone reception. :)

Big D, L.A...............hell any city of any size and you are outside and your concern is with someone`s cig smoke with all the other crap going on around you that is down right lethal...................then you have some major issues.

Where do I pick up my official I R A Smoker tape measure?

I always do my best to respect others feelings and such when it comes to smoking. Don`t smoke in a non-smoker`s house are where there are children indoors , etc. But if I am outside and so on and my smoke bothers you you have some priority probs as I mentioned. If you are in a smoking area or open area and you don`t want to set off your 50 ft cig smoke early warning device then get the hell away from the smokers.

what a bunch of little girls... "second hand smoke"  the horror!!!!!!

wimps...  If you are so sickly that a little smoke wafting by outside will send you into convulsions then you should get back in the iron lung and quit risking your life out in the big old world.

I think that most of you anti smoking nuts are just the same socialists who like telling others what to do.  I have zero respect for you.  You are girlymen.  Get the frigging operation already.
