Title: 109 Skin question
Post by: Krusty on May 16, 2007, 11:07:59 AM
If I've got a 109G-6 profile but it's the Erla Haube canopy and a "late" G-6, would you all think it better if it was skinned for the G-14 instead? Or would you rather see it on the G-6?

I ask because I have a profile or two, and might want to do something (eventually) but wasn't sure which model to skin it for in AH.

Krusty even though the canopy is diferent HTC would look at it as it is still a g6 and we have  a g6 model,if they had only maybe a g14 then they might accept it.
id stick it on the g6 and it would be sure to get in

Well I was wondering because the later 109G6s had 30mm guns in about a third of the planes built (if I recall) and the canopy, and perhaps with additional boost, making it more similar in performance to a G-14(?)

I wasn't sure.

Well that's one vote for "G-6"! I'll wait to get a few others, just to be sure.

Gotta put mine in for the G6 as well Krusty.  Not sure Pyro would sign off as the other.  I guess you could e-mail em just to double-check?

109 G-14 was very similar as 109 G-6, the main difference was water methanol boost system with G14. I skinned our MT-507 as Bf 109 G-14, here is part of my info text:

"Most of people call this plane from the Tikkakoski Aerial Museum as Bf 109 G-6, but actually it is Bf 109 G-14 without the water-methanol injection system. It also has the same canopy type than G-14 and in it's original factory delivery document it has been identified as "Bf 109 G-14 Jabo Rei".

The G-14 was basically a late-war Bf 109G-6 with some parts (e.g. the tailfin) made of wood because of the shortage of strategic materials, especially aluminium.

It also had a FuG 16Z radio with which the G-14s were delivered. So it is very  close to a G-14. One could call it as a G-14 since many G-14s lacked the MW-50  aswell due to production problems anyway. This would give finns a 109G which would  have an Erla-haube since the new G-6 model is modeled with the heavy frame canopy."

It is in the game, now.:)
