Nah bilbon... from my understanding, to have custom skins means requiring everyone else to download them. I could be wrong about that, but nevertheless there are no custom skins here.
You *can* create custom nose art - check the help pages for how.

Give custom skins, so I can avenge from those barbarians at HTC who modeled a Brazilian D25.
A P47-D25, if properly educated, should have the bubble (duh!), the Gabreski late war camouflage, the invasion stripes. :D
Anything else, is just a pale copy. And I don't care if other people can see it or not, as long as I SEE IT on my FE! hehehe.
I think HTC will get there eventually, but for now they have way more important things to develop (in their priority ladder).

Yea, that WOULD be damn cool. You'd be able to guess who you were fighting just by looking at the plane, not by fighting him for a few minutes to get a feel for his style.
That way, I wouldn't waste my time on Nash's N1K2 (He'd be forced to have a hot pink paint scheme :D), Supongo's 109G10 (whatever paint scheme he wants, as long as it is CLEARLY identifiable within a range that I can safely run away at), any of festers planes (perhaps any of the assassins planes, they give me a tough time when I fly against them)... I'll think of more people that need distinctive paint schemes later :)

why not ?? HTC just will decide if the skin are aproved and ad it in the packet download
actualy the revard for some extra events ct or tod the dedicated historic squad skin
like this your squad can build more respectable prestige and reputation for members < instead of bashing to dead the half world >

so some tols like in WB make the skins run the concurs on BBS board and wote after HTC ca nselect the finalist and enlarge the skin selection monthly or with updates

I'd love it but I don't feel like downloading 250 skins everytime I connect... Maybe in the days that we all run FDDI and copper is run outta town. (it is SOON! I hope) but custom colours would R0X0R! a la Crimson Skies.. Oh, did I say a dirty word?

HOW ABOUT a skin that was visible to the client only. That way you can have your own skins for all aircraft and then not have to worry about downloading a bazillion skins every time you log on.
It would basically work the same way the sounds do.

HOW ABOUT a skin that was visible to the client only. That way you can have your own skins for all aircraft and then not have to worry about downloading a bazillion skins every time you log on.
That's too easy to manipulate. Having problems seeing a camoflaged plane? Change its color to hot pink. Having trouble seeing a dark blue plane at dusk? Change its color to snow white.

in h2h or offline u can use any skin u want
online in arena, u have to submit skins, like juhad and redwing and many others did with terrains
then you pick them from the hanger? mabye have 3 skins to choose from, so you could have like a summer scheme, a winter scheme, and a desterif appropriate.. or a pacific and a euro (like for the p38 etcera)
i think it would work ok like thta.. just like there is CM terrain team there could be CM skin team..
would there be any problem with that?

A small selection of stock skins would be cool, but I think HTC needs to spend more time on higher priorties.

Everyone knows that real fighter pilots get the babes after a hard sortie. I think when I exit AH, there should be a hot babe waiting for me in my room. Maybe a British nurse since I am always getting shot down over Britain? :D
No offence to 3500 or any of the other lady fliers. Just thinking and acting like a man because more or less I am one when I am not computer geeking :p

The only way i can see that it would be acceptable would be to have engine/cowling skins OR tail skins (eg 1 colour or pattern)
this would mean its unnoticable at distance but if you get up close you can see they are an ace..just like in real life.
also this should be limited to the top 50 flyers, as they have earned the ace status.
if there was no limits to skins the game would begin to look absolutely rediculous.
I would however like the option to try to make some of my own even if they can only be used offline.
OR how about i pay an extra $2 a month so i can have a 190a8 with my own cowling and tail markings?

or maybe if not custom skins for all planes...maybe custom skins for squads? that wouldnt be as hard as a different skin for all players. it seems pretty achivable. there arent many squads that actually give a damn what their planes look like. so there wouldnt be that many downloads after the initial downloads of when all the squads get their planes done. maybe each squad leader design a skin and all the members have a vote on it before it is submited. just a thought

Yes its shown on the nose of your aircraft therefore "nose art" ;)

Dejavu you sound like you tinkered around with Skins for halflife Counter-Strike ;)
People (me incl) used to skin all the enemy as bright red, and friendlies as bright blue hehe, making it real easy for reactions and seeing in the dark. I cant see how it would help in AH though with the icons above the planes.
How about your own country insignias? Just an idea, but say your an italian, you may want to fly wearing the italian insignia.
Or stripes, maybe. There is a way the colours can be more advanced, one day itll be here.

Is there a good webpage containing some of the nosearts i may use?
Or, how do I make one? I notice it is supposed to be uploaded via Squad menu.. is it supposed to be in BMP files? What is the size? Any topic on making nose art i can look up to? :D

There is an folder in your AH directory where all the other squads nose arts are, you can open up one of these to find out what pixel size etc you should use.
Was an long time ago but i think its bmp files with 64x64 pixels! (dont take this as gospel lol)

It is a 64x64 256 color indexed BMP. That funky pinkle color from the gunsights will be transparent.

I wouldn't mind bad about having own skins for players, who wants to have one.
You could choose if you want to see custom skins of players or not and use default skins instead.
It could work like it does with squad insignias - ever noticed how those goes into temporary folder for later use?
If skin would change for the particular user, it would dump that new one for the player.
Though, perhaps worst effects of this are bandwidth issues - not necessarily at the user end, but at the HTC's.
Not only that it would eat bandwidth, but more usage might also cost more.
It would be much more fun to see customized skins though.
....but how about squad skins?
That wouldn't really have that bad effects with bandwidth issue as those would be put into temporary folder like squad insignias.
So, wouldn't that be a good compromise?

An idea I like is for HTC to take some submissions from players for other skins for the existing rides, and then pick 2 - 5 that would be implemented into the game and you could pick one of those.
