Well, gee... Since none of the other skinners are going to say anything, I guess I'll take a crack at it.

You've added a lot of "paint chipping" (I'm going to call it that, not sure if you call it that) with a light grey-ish color. This chipping all seems to use the same size brush, and on the side of the fuselage you can see perfectly round dots where you clicked onces. Paint won't chip in perfectly round circles for no reason.

I would start out in a harder brush, with a smaller brush size (half the size of what you used). If you want to cover the same size as the other brush, just use twice as many brush strokes to fill it in.

Then, when you're done with that layer I suggest duplicating it, hiding the original, and blurring the frak out of it. Say, a guassian blur with a 3.0 value.

Just for kicks and grins. You might like how it looks. Try different values.

It looks too uniform, too much like brush strokes right now.

Also, consider using a "cloud" layer. This is basically creating a new layer, selecting a dark color and a light color (forground/background -- try black/white) and filter > render > clouds. Take this layer, put it on top of every other layer, and reduce the opacity and play with the blending. You want the end result to just barely be visible. You want it to break up the solid patches of color you have with the "cloudy" variations.

Weathering is the tricky part. Even I am limited in what I can "pull off" so to speak. I was hoping the folks that are way better than I would chime in.

That light grey colour didnt work. It was ment to be bare metal :( Oh well. I will change that, but wont bother reposting screenies. Its just going to take up too much space and time, but consider it done. Anything else at all?

The shade itself wasn't bad. I've used that myself. It's the brush you used that makes it more obvious. Same color, different tool, might be better.

Ok..I didn't want to be the first to criticize, since I'm pretty new at this. Over all it looks very nice.

But the panels and rivets look too flat. If you have a layer for the lines..try to duplicate them and turn them white. Then offset (move) them a pixel or two, then adjust opacity. This will make the lines and rivets appear 3D.

Also the panel lines on the tail are to strong.

Panel lines all over the plane are on th esame layer. Maybe it just contrasts a bit more against the Lichtblau, but I can assure you, the opacity of the tail panels is the same as the fusalage panels. I'll make the second lair of panels tonight, and then once a few more comments have been made (Im sure you guys can find stuff) I will post more screenies.

Looks like the 3 needs to be bigger and closer to the cross.  Check your font too.

I agree about closer to the cross, but it looks the right size (Both line up with the top of the horizontal bar) and font looks darn near identical as well. If you have another suggestion as to the font, please let me know. I would re\lly love to see this in game, and want it to be as close to identical as possible

The camo spots on top of the nose still don't "work"... They extend past the seam and "cut off" visibly. Just round them off yourself, BEFORE they hit the seam, or line up the spots below the seam (on the fuselage) so that they perfectly match up. Some of them are close, but are still a few pixels off.

The "3" is not as thick and blocky as the actual photo.  I took some time and checked for you, it appears to not be a standard Luftwhiner font.  Your skin and your call as to whether you go with what you got or customize something to look more like the photo.

Cheers

OH CRAP! You bet your little backside! I can send you the files if you want and you can put it in your map. At the moment im using your NAfrica terrain (Hope you dont mind). I just didnt think the BoB2004 terrain would suite it very well. lol.

Simmers Paintshop has all the fonts, but as I said the one on the plane you are doing does not match any on the standard Luftwaffe fonts, they must have hand painted it in the field.
