With #s down during the day, usually sub 220 combined for both LW arenas and only using the limited # of small maps. I'd like to see 1 LW hard coded to 350/400 max capacity using the Large maps we have, and 1 LW Arena open ended capacity like now using the small maps.
this would give a greater choice of maps to play on, and also a better choice of fights during the early day time for Euro/US players.

And how would this solve a/your "problem" ?
If we have 2 LW arenas now and the total amount of players that you see during early US/Euro time would fit into just one arena, but some choose to fly in one and other choose to fly in the other arena ... then how would your idea be any different, than what is already available ?
If you have one arena with a hard MAX at 350 and one arena open ended, what makes you think that everyone will want to play in just one arena ... just cause it has a hard MAX at 350 ? ... I don't think so.
What happens when you approach or are deep into US Prime time ... what happens then with these arenas ?
-
my proposal is to do away with both LW rooms and force them into MW and EW :)

Im sure HT has a much better idea of the numbers US day time. Using those numbers Im sure they could figure when the influx of US players start.
With this info, I think they should have a single LW arena with a cap set at just over the average numbers for the LW arenas US day time. Then when the US influx begins, the second arena could open and the "dynamic" cap set up could go back into operation.
This would help the "over the pond" guys. In stead of having to try and populate TWO arenas the numbers would be good for one. Yes it might seem to be "catering" to them, but I can see where the numbers being lower would hurt game play, and after all that what there after here, is game play.

Only problem then is you would have US based players crying about how come they get to fly in 1 arena together why cant we sorta thing.

Double standard policy, another proof of US and EU unfair trade conflict,
the EU prime time players, are ussed to fill up all arenas, untill mass US players arives,
for the same price , HTC Inn is hosting the US prime time players in large rooms with balcony and ocean view, and the EU prime time players in boiler room ,

I don't get to fly during the day, family needs to eat, who'da thunk ! :D but I don't think the day time numbers are that high. I figure a cap of 250-300 might be enough to handle the eruo crowd, which for US prime time is about what we have plus. So whats to complain about?

The problem with this is that at some point you'd have to boot everyone remaining from one of the arenas to get down to one. In addition, because it's only open for part of the day, there would be no incentive to attempt base captures leading to a re-set in that arena.
It might be better to set a hard bottom on the arena populations, say 200 or 250, then the non-primetime players could mostly congregate in one arena making the other a milk-runners paradise during those times (no different than EW/MW now).

This idea would not work for the same reasons given every other time it's been suggested. You've either got to boot everyone out their arena when numbers come up, or force people to fly in a virtual ghost town while the other arena is completely full. Maybe good for you guys, but not for anyone else.

That basically what I'm saying. Remove the dynamic caps for euro prime time to allow them to populate one arena, then restart the dynamic cap when the US influx starts. No need for new arenas, resetting arenas or any of that. It could possibly be set up so as the numbers drop as the euro crowd starts logging off it will signal the dynamic cap say at 200, to restart.
Like I said, HTC has the number to go by and would be able to see if this could work. Again, I dough the numbers are real constant, so there would have to be some give and take or a little patiance in the community..... LOL!!!! what am I talking about !!!

We once had what we now need.
We once had a map that had a central TT area surrounded by high mountains to keep the bombers out. This keeps the GV crowd happy.
It was a large map that could hold lots of players.
We should return to a one MA format with only large maps to accomodate the large numbers of players. Works during peak times. Problem you say when few are on. Hogwash. When few are on they tend to play where others already are, thus concentrating numbers in a small area. Works during off peak times.
During off peak times the tool shedders and milk runners could do their thing in fringe areas of the front away from the hordes. And speaking of hordes, can you imagine the massive furballs during peak times with one MA. It would br something to see. What, don't like hordes, then go to a quieter part of the map.
I believe this map was called Trinity. An expanded version would work well.
returning to a single MA format with a protected TT keeps the greatest numbers of players happy. The big pizza map with a central protected TT are would also work. Or festerma with a central protected TT are would work.
GV crowd-happy
Milk runners- happy
Tool shedders - happy
I have to fly with my squad always - happy
I cant change country ever crowd - happy
The only thing not addressed is ENY, but I think with all of us on one map numbers would have a tendancy to balance out more so than with multiple MAs.
What do you guys think?
And please don't be harsh if you think of somethings I have failed to mention, just putting forth an idea here.
Thanks

Slap,
as it is right now morning time US(till about 12 or 1 pm eastern), LW arena cap is 200 maybe 250, most all LW players are in that arena. then suddenly the cap changes down to 120. now if u log for a sec to do something like email/family things, or get booted/CTD, your Stuck with a 2nd LW arena as the only option to play in with maybe 10 to 40 people in it, for couple 3 hours till enough log on to start caps moving up. that just sucks hind tit for that time period.
with the setup above, u got multiple choice. a LW arena with big maps rotating(every wednesday like it used to) with had cap of 350. which means during low #s during the day u have a great chance of finding a nice fight.
and a place to play if u don't like or are board with small maps.
2nd LW arena with small maps no cap or if HT wants to limit total #s in 1 arena set limit @ which when hit opens 3d LW with small map also.
this give the players who like small maps a place to play even when the big map LW isnt full.
this gives us more of a choice where to play then now, sometimes now, both LW arenas end up with the same maps up at the same time.
heck even reverse the setup. hard cap of 350/400 with small maps, when the cap is reached open 2nd LW with big map rotation. just give us more of a choice, and stop the mid day cap reduction, with out # increase.

Sounds like it would work........

if HT really wants to equalize numbers he'd cap country numbers in each arena instead of overall arena numbers AND leave ENY in place.

What do I think? I think you are asking for the exact same thing we had. And you know what? It sucked.

What exactly was it that sucked, Stang? I was under the impression that most players were happier with the single MA big map approach.

Agree... I know I preferred it.

What was the reason for the inital split then if everyone was happy? Must have been a reason.. i don't think HT spends his day devising new ways to annoy people and generally disrupt play.
[EDIT] Then again thats probably what i'd do if i was emperor of the universe.
-
not everyone was happy, there was a lot of complaining about the hordes! HT thought the community was turning into a slum, so he split them. Yes we still have hordes, but they are smaller and can be stopped with 10 people working together. The old way 10 was drop in the bucket against the horde and didn't even slow it down, let alone bust it up.

So, it's HT's fault that there aren't more European players?
You guys can't be serious.

I'm not exactly sure what you're getting at, but I find it odd that a minority complains about a double standard when you get exactly the same treatment as everyone else- as though by virtue of not generating enough income or active players, you should receive preferential treatment.
That's not the way businesses succeed.
