I know this was posted a while back - but i can't find the thread in searching. Can anyone point to this website for me? Is it the Nation Archives site? Thanks

So if anyone can help - i am looking for service records for my grandfather,
Corp. Marvin E. Beaird
BTRY B, 156th Field Artillery Battalion, 44th Division
I'd like to get a picture of thier insignia/patch if possible. Any help would be appreciated.
Apparently from what my mom told me, he had returned for leave to the states because his brother was killed in a car accident. Meanwhile his Division or group was deployed and wiped out somewhere in Europe....

Here's a place to start. Patch at top left.

I hope you have good luck finding them. Many early service records were destoryed in a huge fire some time back.

thanks for the help - my mom has a strong box with his honorable discharge papers and something about returning from Glasgow in '45 on the Queen Elizabeth. I also found the 156th Field Artillery Battalion patch and thanks Toad for the link to the 44th Div. patch.

For his time "in country", Hollywood would be a good place to find these.

ya know this topic comes up every few months makes me wonder if HTC should have a page devoted to links for research for various military and aviation topics

Mighty, I think you're looking for the Argument Room, its just down the hall, 3rd door on the left.

Wow, he doesn't even know how to make a decent thread hijack. That clearly deserved it's own HTC bashing thread.
