Looks like a Darwin award. I hope there was no attendant in the booth there.

I liked the two cars who were witnesses that changed lanes and kept right on going.

EZ-Pass = GoFast?

They had a fast service at the toll booth - a cop and a truck to remove the wreckage arrived at the scene almost immediately. They only lacked something to put out the fire.

Oil change and a tire rotation will take care of everything.

That had to suck. Driver might have fell asleep at the wheel. The car splits in two. Sad really.

Was that car being pursued by the policeman who pulled up 10 sec. later? He already had the roof going, That dude that went a flamer might have been a fugitive, or joyriding or something. All that Seagoon's clip said was that he hit the empty tollbooth.

EDIT:
The patrol car entered the scene 9 sec. after the speeder hit, and the cop was decelerating all the way through the frame...I'm thinking it was a chase.

That could very well be.  It looks like he's going from the center lane into the second lane to go through the tollbooth.  I don't see any brake lights either.  Goes a long way to explaining how fast the cop showed up, I counted 9 seconds using the clock on the video.

Funny thing about this... I saw some amatuer footage taken by somebody going through the booth shortly after the accident.  Dialogue: "No no keep going... I think I can get the car on film...  man lookit that smoke." Then film abruptly stops.  Wonder if cops took it, or they just edited the rest out, cause all it shows it smoke and flames as the driver pays the toll, then ends.

Noticed that too eh?  Nice cop chase ending.  Don't think the perp felt a thing as he became part of the dash, steering wheel and engine.

I don't know about the toll booths up there. But in Maryland and down here in Atlanta there seems to always be a cop sitting at them. So the cop pulling up might be that he was just sitting there waiting on someone to go though with out paying and saw this happen. I still think the driver was asleep at the wheel. That is why you didn't see any brake lights. Just my theory anyways.

SOMERS POINT —

Authorities are investigating whether a Lower Township man's history of seizures caused his fatal, high-speed, fiery crash into a Garden State Parkway toll booth last week.

Bernard King, 52, had a history of seizures and apparently had a seizure only a few hours before the 8:30 a.m. accident, according to State Police and King's mother, Edna King.

Edna King said her son was taken from the Atlantic City Hilton Casino Resort, where he worked as a dealer, to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Campus, at about 5:30 a.m.

State Police Capt. Al Della Fave also said King was taken to the hospital after suffering a seizure that some witnesses believed to be a stroke.

“It wasn't,” he said. “It was a seizure. He was inclined to have seizures.”

When asked about King, a hospital spokeswoman said there was “no information about that name.”

The cause of King's seizures was not available.

Edna King spoke only briefly Monday about last week's events and her son, saying, “Right now, I'm getting ready to bury him.”

“It was so fast,” she said.

Edna King said she's also trying to find out just what happened Thursday.

“There's a lot of things up in the air,” she said.

An autopsy performed Thursday on King by the Atlantic County Medical Examiner's Office listed the cause of death as traumatic injuries and thermal burns.

Atlantic County Medical Examiner Dr. Hydow Park was not available to comment Monday about whether the autopsy revealed anything related to King's seizure.

According to the Casino Control Commission, King held a casino dealer's license since 1986.

King was heading south on the parkway when he crashed into a concrete barrier and toll booth at the toll plaza. State Police estimated King was traveling about 65 mph.

King's car immediately burst into flames. State Police working a nearby truck-exhaust checkpoint rushed to the scene, only to have their rescue attempt foiled by flames from the burning car.

Fire and rescue units quickly arrived at the scene, along with other State Police units.

The crash closed at least three toll lanes, and parkway operators waived tolls for about an hour at the remaining toll lanes to keep traffic moving quickly through the scene.

The Great Egg toll plaza is one of three toll plazas on the southern end of the parkway that has been converted into one-way toll plazas in an attempt to improve traffic flow.

looked like a wheel and tire although it didn't roll pass the next booth. don't think it was a body the way the cop starts to wlak the other way sec before the end. maybe a chunk of radiator support.

Prone to seizures and driving?  Nice combination.  That legal there??  I used to live in PA, and I know you had to be seizure free for several YEARS before you could get your license back.  Go figure.
