Last night I was called a cheater numerous times by a newb named Twentyfo. On one hand, I guess I should feel flattered, on the other I got a little ticked off. He accused me off hitting my "standby (?) switch" then he said my lag? switch. I forced the overshoot, used opposite rudder, and rolled over on top to kill him. I even offered to show him the move. Many of you guys that were there, and supported me, I say thanks. I must say to all the newer guys. Before you accuse anyone, and get reported to HT(which does not tolerate cheating, or false accusations), learn ACM.
If you suspect something, or see something out of the ordinary, FILM IT!!!
Don't berate, or accuse people of cheating because either you don't know moves, or you have a connection/hardware issue. I don't, will not, have not, ever attempted to cheat, nor would even tolerate cheaters. Hopefully, some of you newer people, when you get killed, and want to learn a specific offensive/defensive move, ask the vet that killed you to maybe show you. Don't accuse , or berate them. You won't last long here.
I've been here a while, and I still learn every day. I get my butt handed to me often, but I have never accused anyone of cheating.
Just my 2 foodstamps worth,

Just one question: Where did you order your lag switch? I need one, my lag rolls suck...

I think Walmart, or home depot has Lag switches, oh wait those are light switches.:)

Now I don't agree with the actions of the player, just for the fact that he didn't have proof of foul play. But at the same time not sure you should have posted his name. Just my 2 cents
-
Any one who PM whines or calls someone a cheater should be called out on it.
-
Lag switch lmao:lol :lol :rofl :rofl

It maybe time to put the word cheat and cheater in the bad word filter. And if you do type it, you'll get a warning that you need to film it and send it to HTC, instead of accusing people.

I felt posting his name WAS the correct thing to do. It gives fair warning on both ends of the dialogue. Accused and accusers. If it happens toanyone else, they already are aware that he has done this. He was reported to HT anyway. I don't verbally abuse/ accuse people, nor will I accept recieving it.
(Unless it has to do with me and others sheep that is) :)

I love being called a cheater. It makes me smile. I don't even reply to them when I get called a cheater. They just keep upping. They keep getting more and more frustrated. They make even more mistakes to get themselves killed.
I had a guy do that to me last night. He upped four times. Three times in a 109. Then as me and my wingy turned for home he upped an La-7 to "intercept" us. My wingman baited him, went vertical. The La-7 followed him up and I swooped down for the easy kill. Good times. We were bingo fuel so we flew back into the hord on our return to base and each caught two bad guys as they were climbing out.
Oz I was in that fight there with you. It seemed that every squeaker was out last night. The Bish were flying nothing but, Niks, Lalas, Spits, Zekes and Ponys. Plus you had the knuckle heads in the 163s. It was a good fight. I had a good time killing them. Don't let the squeaker mess up your fun. I am sure tonight we will find another low fight over the water. BTW, where can I get a good lag switch?

your patience with him was amazing Oz!:aok
I have yet to be accused of cheating:( do I have shoot someone down first to get that? 'cuz someday......

A bunch of us spent some time trying to explain the realities to the guy. One thing many newer players dont understand is that as you get closer to an enemy plane the rendering load can change. He only had 1 Gig of memory so my speculation is that when he got close that one time he did in fact have a momentary lag...which combined with oz's forcing the overshoot created this "lag on demand" BS. If your system doesnt have the resources to handle your settings you'll get all kinds of glitches....
This guy simply wouldnt stop, I know I finally rang him up and reported it to HTC....

Who really gives a rats arse what someone else calls you. LOL, you won, thats all that matters.

If I spent my time calling everyone who shot me down a cheater...I wouldn't have any time to fly. Word of advice to those who seem to use that word to excess:
Film all your sorties and review each one carefully.
Without exception, you will find that in most all case's...you put yourself in a position to get your tail feathers waxed.
Stanby and Lag switch????? I want those!!!!!! :rofl

The bish have been pretty badly outnumbered lately so you really have no place to stand as far as complaining about what they fly. Try stepping outside the safety of the horde some time, you might like the challenge.
-
I can understand your frustration ozrockr, but i suggest you remove the name. HTC really does not like names beeing mentioned in that context. Just abit of friendly advice :)

Actually thats not true at all. AH gives you alot of options that eat up memory. If he has his setting at default and is using 128 textures and not loading skins in background....then yes. If he is using 256 or above and has adjusted his "sliders" then he can exaust his resources as the detail piles up.

Myself and my wingman were 50 miles south of the "horde" We were in a pair of 38s hunting the bish that were comming up high to take out our bombers. On our return flight we flew though the horde. And caught two each not checking their sixes. I wasn't complaining about what they fly. And the bish were not out numbered last night.
Maybe spend less time picking apart my comment looking for little remarks you can make and more time flying against me and you would know that, I don't like the horde. You will always find me outside the "horde" hunting with a wingman. I prefer to fight this way. I don't like chasing an La-7 all over the skies and pumping him full of lead only to score an assist because 15 fellow pilots shoot the hell out of my weenie as he goes down in flames. Cheers.

i suppose if scoring cheap shots on a chess piece in a virtual game is your thing.......
-
When I first came in here, I didn't jump right in, I just flew around. Like combat training in real life, the DI's got to train that urge NOT to kill out of you. I still feel guilty killing pixels on a screen. I like going after bombers and I know how much effort it takes to do a mission well, then get jumped when I'm almost back home. I actually felt bad jumping a bomber the other day. But I did it anyway! {:^)
Well, if it is red---shoot it!
I've seen guys game the game in here, but I don't think it is cheating. I have looked online for cheats to this game. There doesn't seem to be any, at least unless you got a hand in the programming end of it on the other side of the Wizard's (Oz) screen and know the code.
To WarBirds, I guess guys do try to beat the server as to their legal TOS writeup. I know of a guy that cracked into a server to cause mischief and got Federal prison for it.

It's no surprise.
So many online games have been hacked or compromised in so many ways, the automatic response by these little cretins is the auto-cheat!-reflex. Aimbots, shade accounts, actual cheats and work-arounds are legion in many games. It's a simple fact of online gaming. People with so little self- confidence and respect need to do ANYTHING they can to increase their self worth.
It can't be that they or their target have a under performing rig, or one that is so chock full of spyware, viruses, and various 60-odd unneeded threads running in the background. Society has taught them that everything is somebody else's fault, not their own.
It can't be that they upped a fully fueled Pony to defend their base at low altitude. Or they've no ACM skills. Or no situational awareness. Or no fire discipline or gunner skills. Or no patience. Or any clue.
Get a squeaker like this: step one is to make an attempt to edumacate dem. If on the other side, see you cannot enlist someone locally on their side to address the issue. Give them an honest, fair, civil response.
If step one does not work, then it's your choice: ignore, squelch, make fun of them, taunt them till their little head explodes, mercilessly hunt them down all night. To each his own. But first, try to inform and educate. I'm all for online Darwinism.

Not in LWO. And we flew back into the Horde on our return flight home. We had no choice. And again I wasnt complaining about what they flew. I was simply making a note. I landed my kills and so did my wingman and other squadie. I have nothing to complain about. I give your whine about being "outnumbered dramatically" a 2 1/2. Mostly because a good pilot want's as many bad guys as he can find. I like being out gunned. Means I am always going to find something to shoot at. It is a game. Relax.

Nice to have the horde close by when you need to bug huh? If you like being outgunned how come all your kills this tour are from the rook side? the rooks have had number all tour, pretty much.
As for your completely ignorant assertion that I was whining about numbers, let me clue you in at no charge: I am one of the very pilots you mention, you know the kind of pilot that you are not, the kind of pilot who wants as many bad guys as he can find. I log into the arena and fly for the team with the fewest numbers. I am actually a rook from way back but got sick of the rook horde, you know the one that you flew "back" to, admitting that you had already been in it? I fly for whatever country is the least populated, each and every night. As it happens that has been bish almost exclusively for the last month or so.
You complained about what the bish were flying. I've already requoted your whine about it so give that up. As long as you fly on the side with the most numbers, no matter what BS excuse you try to come up with, you are a hordeling. Try flying with the team with the fewest numbers for a tour or 3, and you might find something more challenging that vulching a guy in a 109 who upped 3 times, then tag teaming his low LA7.

Being called a cheater is a complement rocker, run with it man! I was called a cheater for the first time this weekend and loved it :D

Well actually there is one and you can order it just about anywhere online and that includes Dell computers. See this URL http://www.hothardware.com/viewarticle.aspx?articleid=882 - 51k
It's pricey, but Dell offers the next generation of the Killer, it's the K1 and it's like 179.00 but I don't think it has the ping throttle on it. Long ago I posted a message in the hardware forum asking Skuzzy for his thoughts on the project and I agreed with his assessment that it wouldn't make it because it couldn't work. I guess we were both wrong as it's here and has been here for about a year and is now in it's second generation. I just can't justify paying those kind of bucks for NIC card and I wouldn't think about using a ping throttle. But there are those who live to win at whatever cost is involved so it is possible.
All the Best...

Steve, man, you seem so frustrated these days :lol
Let's go in the DA sometime, the MA seems to be wearing on you, and I'd like to fight you again after 2 years or so :)
-
LOL. 50 miles south of the horde is close by? Classic. Steve you forget I have flown with you before. As I recall that mission with you we flew outside the horde and caught the bad guys as they lifted.
And yes, I fly Rooks. I am a Rook. I do not switch sides. I fly a 38. ENY does not effect me. Sound's to me that you are the one who is stressed out. Maybe you should come to the darkside for awhile. Get your head right. Stop crying about the "horde".

Home Depot has lag bolts. I think with enough of them, you could build a lag switch.
-
just pull the wire from you router for a second, I KNOW GUYS DO THIS, but i dont, to far to reach...im lazy:(
-
The ultimate solution.
I have come across several people ( . ) holes, really, I am going to say the number to be around 12 that I have run into that I do/did question their connection. BUT Low and Behold the cure. When you get on theor six which might take a bit of a min force them to the deck, and rape em on the ground as they auger into the ground. Ive done it with a 90% chance of success. And the crap eatin smile that comes from it. I dont even give em the curtasy of a wing wave.
-
Well there is that guy in the DA that does the collision, lag, and HO cheat on me all the time. Everytime I fight him he uses some strange cheat to get on my six. To make things worse, he never misses from d100. I know I am yunger, better, and have more hair than him so there is no way he gets me because he is better.
YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!!!!! I have several films old man and once I send them in, you and your cat (or slipers) will be gone!!!!! Then, I will be the l33t king of the DA :noid :furious :O

Interesting, I've had my share of noobs lately too. Thank goodness the Join requests are in the text buffer now.
What really sends me drumming my fingers is someone who refuses to use the Training Room to learn any segment of the game. Its a pity today's youth doesn't know what RTFM stands for ;)

In the perfect dreamworld all newbs who log on for the first time would be auto-sent to TA were a trainer would meet them and hold their hand until they are ready to be released into the rest of us. :)

Alright, I will not do a Kenny40...lol. First and foremost I officially apologize for calling Ozrocker a cheater. I should've gone about it in a different way. I have no problem getting shot down by a 'superior' player. However, from my point of view Ozrocker's plane warped and started moving funny when I got on his 6. This caused me to fly past him. When he got behind me, his plane moved perfectly fine; no lag or jumpiness. My computer has performed very well while playing aces high, I have had no problems with connection or anything.
On another note, when I said he used a "lag" switch I was referring to him pushing the stanby button on top of his cable modem. The standby button temporarily discos the computer from the internet causing (in Aces High) the plane to disappear or act really jumpy. (F.Y.I. I was introduced to the term "lag switch" while playing Madden and Splinter Cell on PS2. People used to hit the standby button against their opponents while kicking field goals.) In every on-line game I've ever played the most common way to cheat is by pushing the standby button. I'm really shocked that none of you have ever heard of this. I can almost guarantee that most of you have modems with a standby switch on top of it (Motorola Surfboards have had that feature for years).
Again, there are no hard feelings from me at all. I regret calling Ozrocker a "cheater". I get shot down all the time and I usually don't complain to people outside of my squad. I just wanted you guys to hear my side.
