Okay,
Now, I have an issue. Im always broke. I need to stop paying for Aces High. But if I cancel an account, I wont be able to make a new one (personal reasons). So, my question is, is there a way to 'freeze' an account? Deactivate it temporarily, for say 2 months or so to get my finances in order? And if that is possible, would I need to resubmit my CC info to 'un-freeze' it? Thank you very much for your time.

Stop getting pr0n.

Actually, its more like im too young to get a job, and Im tired of having to tell my girlfriend im too broke to do something fancy, or not be able to get her nice things for her birthday. She doesnt mind, but I do. (Yeah, I like fancy stuff.)
-
Where can you get, or do something FANCY for 15 bucks anyway? Goodwill?
Cut grass, work in a restaurant (age 14 allowed most states), do other odd jobs for elderly people in your hood. Many legal ways to earn a few bucks, while your age.
Good Luck,
Oz

Age is 15 here. Im still 3 months away from that. And $15 aint much, but it adds up. Besides, just something small every now and then is nice. And... er... I live in the crystal-meth capital of the world... we dont HAVE elderly people here, just drug-addicts...
-
So give her "something small every now and then". It only costs money if you aren't careful.

LOL!!! Yeah, I enjoy my perfect record. Im gonna need it to get into the USAF, lol. I love how we've jumped off topic though. Is it possible to freeze an account?
-
I'm sure if you rang Carrie and asked very nicely, something could be arranged.

Look at the difference in states. Different state= different laws.

Then we have the question of will I have to re-submit CC info to 'unfreeze' it. Because if I do, lol, its not getting unfrozen :D
(Parents arent exactly happy with the game, theyre just too lazy to cancel it. Doing something that would necessitate them giving me their CC info AGAIN would be as good as a canceling my sub. permanently)

Serenity, mate, listen to your girlfriend.... a lot of the time chicks don't give a watermelon about money.
I have bought my girlfriend of 3 years some really awesome and really ****ing expensive birthday/christmas presents.....sure, she loved them.... but do you know the birthday present that she loved the most and remembers first time, all the time?
I was in-between jobs and totally broke, so i went to the newsagent and bought some coloured card. I spent a couple of hours making a birthday card for her. I put some photos of us in it and stuff like that.
I went to the shops and bought a bunch of her favourite lollies ('candy', for you yanks), some crackers and some cheese.
I hid all of this in the boot ('trunk'?) and went and picked her up. We grabbed some fast food (which she payed for) and I pretended make a wrong-turn towards my old house (said I was on 'auto-pilot') and took her down to the beach. It was night-time and it was cold, so I parked in a car-park that looks out to the city over the bay.
She thought I was trying to 'put the moves on her' until I got the stuff i prepared earlier out of the boot.
She absolutely loved it and it was the cheapest 'present' ever.
I didn't even ****ing pay for dinner! :lol
So, don't stress about the money, Serenity. If she's a keeper she won't care about it. Especially if it's just for a few months until you can get a job.
Chill, mate.

:rofl (Sorry, I realised ive spent FAR too much time with Overlag, that I understood all of that without the American translations! lol)
Yeah, I just feel stupid is all. I was gonna pick her up a USAF Teddy Bear at the BX (She loves teddy bears, and it would piss her dad off because hes Army) and suddenly realised "I havnt had cash for 11 months!" (Roughly the time ive been playing AH!) Yeah. I just want to scrape together a fair bit, ive only got a year with her before her dad gets re-stationed, and im not sure where things are gonna go from there... so yeah, im just trying to give her the best time possible before she leaves.

Serenity...
(slightly off topic but the old guy in the mirror saw this and had to write)
Here is the voice of experience...
1. Chicks like to be the CENTER of attention. They will do whatever is necessary to separate you from anything else you enjoy - be it games, friends - whatever. It is not an evil conspiracy, it is in their DNA - they cannot help it.
2. At 14, she shouldn't expect "things" from you. It should be obvious in your current situation that if she wants something you will have to get it from someone else. (Your Parents)
I understand that you WANT to do things for your girlfriend but at age 14 there are going to be dozens more before you get out of highschool and dozens more before you're out of college. The good news is, you will be able to earn money soon and you will have the choice of how you wish to spend it. The point is, you should not worry about having to buy things for a girl, when you do this, you train her to expect it - BAD BAD BAD idea. The next girl after her might have noticed that you gave her a bunch of stuff and when you don't continue the trend with her she will use the guilt card on you for not 'caring' about her as much!
Don't worry about trying to do stuff for the girlfriend until you have EARNED your own money and can think about the gift that you want to give. If she cannot understand that at your age, you do NOT need the hassle.
Good luck and best wishes with your USAF career and keeping that perfect record.
(now, back to the topic)
I really wish we could do the account hold thing
-
Fair enough mate, I can understand that.
Do what you've gotta do.
Also, keep in mind, I don't know what your bank laws and standards are over there but if you're allowed to have a savings account with an EFTPOS card. (You guys do have that, don't you?)... A bank card with a pin-code that you can't over-draw... it just has your savings on it? :huh
They have Visa Debit cards now.... so it's a credit card without the 'credit' bit. You deposit money into your Visa Savings account and you can use this to pay for things online.
I do not want a credit card, so I have one of these and it works a treat.
This would mean that you could pay for your own AH account when you get your finances in order and not rely on your parents for the CC info.
I know that my card will not over-draw with Aces High, so you don't have to worry about bogus fees and all that... (do check this with your bank though, things may be different)
-
u better off calling HTC on the phone for this situation. It gets handled in less then 5 mins.
-
Mr No Name:
Yeah, amazingly, she doesnt try to pull me away from anything. I walk away voluntarily, and she gets annoyed that I give things up for her. She doesnt expect anything, and I practically have to force her to take what I can give her, lol.
Xasthur:
I no longer HAVE a savings. Since last august, flying every week has routinely drained it down to absolutely nothing. Flight training is expensive :(

reynolds listen to what arch is saying.
If you give up what you love, your passion, to save a few bucks when she isnt that bothered about being treated anyway.
You will get withdrawal symptoms and resent her for being the reason why you cant relax and up your favourite B17 just to get away from the real world for a couple of hours.
I'm sure you can think of a million things that will impress her that dont involve money. Usually just the one thing does the trick ;)
Good luck with it lad.

think of all the time and money he has invested in this game !.. and you just want to walk away ?
My God theres like a dozen people or more whose income relies on your subscription and all you can think about is yourself and your nappy headed ho girlfriend!
for shame young man!

What are you looking to accomplish with "freezing your account"? As far as I know, your name gets saved..... forever. Just ring them up and let them know your not going to be paying for a bit. Seams pretty simple to me.
if on the other hand your just looking for some attention, looks like you've already accomplished that :D
-
What AKdogg said. Call HTC. I am sure they will work something out for a couple months.
Young ladies really appreciate cards and letters telling them how you feel about them. As others have said if she is worth keeping around she is not looking for ‘things’ from you. If she is, then your just wasting your money anyway. I am not saying girls don’t appreciate a gift now and again, but my wife would not trade the letters and cards I have given her for ‘anything’ I could ever purchase her.

What im looking to accomplish:
My parents are NOT gonna give me their CC info again. I dont care about perks. But if I cancel, my parents arent gonna let me resubscribe. They will however let me keep it going, simply because they are too lazy to cancel.
And Jaxxo, the funny thing is, she doesnt give me ANY greif. I walk away from the game voluntarily when I get a call, hell, shes told me to "shut up and turn the frigging computer BACK ON". lol. So this is mostly in my head :D
And thanks steel. Replied.

Well, for fourteen years old, Serenity, you're exceptionally well behaved. Give your parents my regards. And don't let it go to your head. Say, when you give up your subscription, don't forget to try out the free multiplayer. I'd love to have you in Blue Sky: Maximum Realism.
P.S. I'll give you the same girl advice I give everyone else. Forget about them, they're nothing but trouble. Airplanes are better than girls; airplanes only hurt you when you do something wrong.

lol. No, this ones a keeper me thinks. Ive spent the last week with a 102 degree fever, and every day shes brought me meds, (Asperin, cough stuff, the works) plus breakfast lunch and dinner. When im stupid enough to go to school, she forced me to spend the breaks sleeping (Offered her chest as a pillow, lol) and finally DRAGGED me to the infirm and got me sent home, lol. This girl takes better care of me than I take of myself, lol!
-
Mine wishes she could do that, but we'd get detention or more for that and she isn't always able to get to my home. We've been together for over a year, though. Here's to good girls. ;)

And lol OOZ! Her parents werent too happy about it, but since theyve actually met me, found EVERYONE from my past and interogated them all, and even pulled my govt records (What little her dad's mil. clearance would give him) and couldnt find anything bad about me, they gave in, lol. And... er... gotta say, shes quite... 'blessed' for 14, was quite a comfortable nap :D And to think we dont even make a month until next tuesday...
-
Eh, the blessed ones aren't for me, if you can believe it. :noid Erika's dad is a partner in a tax firm. I won him over by building a computer for her for $300 less than stock price. GO GEEKS!

Same here, as far as the 'gifted' thing. And she wants em even less than I do, though they DO come in handy (On just such an occasion). Her dads Army, and I won her parents over simply by putting up with their ****. They pretty much try to scare every guy away from her, never stop calling them gay, and pretty much pull every dirty move they can. It normally works. But see, she warned ME, and theyre just funny, lol, so it dont bug me! Doesnt mean they stopped though...
Shes on the phone with me... what did I say to deserve THAT look?!?

Back in AH1 when 2 came out asked if they could "freeze" my account until i had bought a new pc, but that was not possible.
The answer to your question then is that it wasnt possible in the past, but maybe they have a better system for it now.

1. absolutely nothing 'fancy' can be bought/done that will be affected by $15/mo. About 10 months worth of AH will pay the bill for 2 at a good restaurant. Other ways to show you "care", bud. (by show you "care", I mean pretend you're not in the "relationship" for just one thing; hah)
2. you're 14 and broke, why the fk are you spending money on her anyway? if that crap is already important to her at squeaker-age, she's going to turn into one hell of a money-grubbing potato.
3. HT has been saying 'no' to this for years. 1 less squeaker in AH... damn shame :aok
-
I have been brought up to respect the value of money and to never waste it.
Would i resign the game if i was to be away for lets say 3 months? yes. Its only 45 american pesetos but it all adds up, so i do stuff like that all the time to save abit here and there.
Im not cheap, and i spend my fair share on luxury items when i want but that does not mean i also waste money just because its conveniant and i happen to have them.
I think it would be great if HTC would make it possible to "park" an account for a reasonable ammount of time but at the end of the day all i lose by quitting and signing up again is afew thousand perks that i dont spend anyway.
:)

No, but it adds up. And I can grab MAYBE another 10 a month through odd jobs, the thing is, that $15 that I get a month is steady. Its always there. And it adds up. 3 months is enough to get her something small, but nice, (She collects knives, switchblades, the like, and ive found one I know shell LOVE!) and 3 months or so will be just what id need for something small. I only have a limited amount of time with her before her dad gets restationed. And I want to give her the best time I can.
And yeah Overlag, shes beautiful :D
Nope, no paypal, and my in-game name is Serenity.

If you give a knife as a gift your suppose to give them a piece of paper with it and have them cut the paper with that knife, so the knife does not cut the friendship.

Interesting... never heard of that particular tradition. No... with her past, and bad luck, shes gonna need any knife I give her for something else... (Self defense).
-
I hope I'm not the first to say this as I didn't invest the time to read the entire thread but didn't Serenity ask a "yes or no" question?
Now I'm curious, can you suspend your account or not? If so what happens to your cpid's?
-
The answer is NO
-
it's a shame it isnt handled this way, even netflix allows me to put my account on hold and save my queue, cc info, and all i have to do to reactivate is set an activation date or click a button and I am set to go.
saves time and money for those times (especially during the summer) when i do not have as much time for movies. If it weren't for their account hold feature i'd probably do without netflix altogether if i had to reregister. I believe gamefly does this too. HTC should seriously consider this.

If you really love the lady, you'll save up and buy her a Glock. They're cheap, reliable, and effective, if not very fine. Works a thousand times better than Mace or a Taser. If any girl has qualms about using a weapon, remind her that even if she would not protect herself, it's the right thing to do to protect her attacker's future victims. Forty five is a good round for taking down animals (two legged), but it's more important to get a caliber small enough that the person can aim well with.
Those who would take away the people's firearms are no better than the rapists and murderers whom the gun-control advocates protect. I am strongly reminded of this every time I hear the terms "woman" and "self-defense" in the same context. Woe to the wicked.
-
I'm all-for self defense of women, but loading a gun onto a 14 or 15 year old? They obviously wouldn't bring it to school with them (we hope) and probably wouldn't come home to get it. It'd end up being too big of a burden for them, I'd think. Can teens even get concealed weapon licenses?
That or when you dumped them, you'd die.
-
Why not? Children used guns responsibly a hundred years ago, and long before that as well. My own father shot from a young age, and didn't have a babysitter while he was shooting, either. The problem is, of course, that children are improperly raised in this age of television and therefore people are understandably more leery of giving guns to children.

And that's why I simply don't get involved in the first place. It's not my business to tell you how to live (aside from where it encroaches upon my own life, which this doesn't), but I must say I think that relationships at your age are bound to fail.

If everyone in this day and age were as cool headed and mature as some teens out there, giving guns to teens would be a great idea. It all depends on the person. I'd carry a gun with me if I could. I'd never whack out and shoot anybody. However there's the issue of if anybody will trust my word behind that statement. There are, though, an abundance of teens out there that are either depressed out of their minds, burnt dry on drugs, or too hyped up on medication their parents think they need to be trusted with a firearm.
But this still comes back to the other question; can a teen even get a concealed firearms license?

No, they can't. My post was a fruitless rant caused by my resentment towards a government which greatly oversteps its bounds and towards parents who sadly neglect their role, thereby indirectly assisting that grasping government.

lol. Sadly, I could get the Glock cheaper than the Knife, but neither my parents, nor hers, would allow me to survive if they found I did. Shes got absolutely no qualms with a weapon, (She shoots ALMOST as well as I do), but... er... giving her lethal weapons in this state is not a good idea. (Too many stupid people asking to be introduced to the buisness end)
