Eye-One Display LT  goes for about $170.00
Eye-One Display 2 goes for about $250.00

Pantone used to have a product called "Color Plus" that you might be able to find used. Went for about $100.00 new.

Above those you'll be getting into systems over $1k.

Don't bother with the Huey unless you just want something to give yourself warm fuzzies by claiming to have a calibrated monitor.  It doesn't calibrate accurately.

Thanks Jigsaw. Is there such a thing as taking a monitor to a business to get calibrated if one doesn't want to purchase the tool? Or will the monitor eventually "go back out of calibration" over a short period of time?

Hiya Straffo...I don't read frogese...:) Do you have an english version of that?

Quite welcome.

They'll eventually drift out of calibration.  LCDs aren't as bad about it as CRTs. General rule of thumb is to calibrate every two to four weeks.  I also toss in an extra calibration for color critical jobs.

If you're going to get into the color balance game, there's quite a bit to read up on, starting with custom white balance. There's a forum at   Fred Miranda (http://www.fredmiranda.com)  with a lot of good info.

Some moniters won't calibrate well, thats why LCDs were slow to catch on with people who have to deal with real color.

Rip, are you worried about calibrating it to your eyes (screenshots) or are trying to match printed output? If so, which printer?
