Title: Mountain Biking
Post by: cav58d on May 21, 2007, 11:25:45 PM
Anyone Mountain Bike?  Now that summer is here I will try and go 3-4 times a week.  My town has an awesome little valley (3 x 2) with everything ranging from flatlands, to drops of all sizes and rivers/streams galore.  I went out today and got a tune up, and tomorrow i'm spending the day in the woods.  Extremely pumped.  I'll take some pics and post tomorrow.

Just wondering if anyone else rides (especially in the new england area.....would be cool to do a trip one weekend)

I actually just sold my Banshee hardtail not too long ago. I'm 3 hrs from Whistler, BC (http://www.whistlerbike.com/index.htm). Fun stuff.

I still have my bike... but I trashed my shoulder.

I had my second shoulder surgery on May 3 for a completely severed supraspinatus tendon and a torn coracohumeral ligament.

Once my rehab is complete, I'll be back on it.

Some background (http://forums.hitechcreations.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=152355).

I used to, but not anymore.

I had an accident going down a hill and the missus and I felt it was time I gave it up before i got really hurt. Kinda glad i did. We do go offroad and one bike trails along the coast with Mia but its not the quite the same.

I miss my downhill biking sometimes but i got a family now and id hate to get really hurt just for some adrenaline kick.

I’ve lived in Alaska, Hawaii and Colorado; they all had great mountain biking.  Now I live in Ohio; not so great.  I still get out though but am on pavement more than anything else.

No way. I break out in a sweat and have to take a nap after just reading "mountain biking."

*off to eat chocolate until I feel better after that* then hit the rack.:)

That's what happens when you ride in places your Mama wouldn't approve, you learn the names of those body parts most people can't spell. :D

lmao.  Took a good buddy of mine riding.  (Former 1AA offensive lineman hehe).  We get to a flat muddy area where other bikers have set up wood planks to ride over (10 feet by maybe 8 inches).  lmao.  My buddy Greg barely even gets hit rear wheel on the platform before he loses all balance and falls face first into a DEEP pile of mud.  It was right out of a movie.  Hilarious.  The guy also couldnt grasp the concept of standing up, shifting weight back, and NEVER USING FRONT BREAKS when going down steep terrain, especially terrain with lots of rocks and roots.  Hence why he  super manned a couple times.

LMAO.  Fat guys shouldn't bike.

:lol  He might as well have been tight-roping over canyons..  Riding a bike so slowly over so many rocks and near such dangerous slopes seems like all peril and no victory.

Never rode MTB, but I used to ride BMX.

I got past it a little, then worked my way back into it.

Got to this stage and beat myself up pretty badly re-learning this:

Haven't been on the bike much since then, couldn't afford being hurt with work and other commitments.

Just started riding bmx again after about a 7 year hiatus, god a 27 year old body doesnt take the abuse nearly as well as a teenage one.  I am however getting quite good at eating **** in spectacular fashion, and usually in front of many spectators.

I heard that the pounding from the seat under your nuts will kill the blood vessels going to your whang and make you unable to get it up.
