5PointOh<----Owned By Cable Modem and Charter Communications
Modem resets itself every whenever it wants, right now about every 5-10 min. I called the cable company on Sunday the 20, first open appointment is on the 29th.:furious
-
My stats shows 16 discos, that doesn't count all the times I managed to make it back to base after losing UDP. But still got Discoed in tower or had to relog. This is getting frustrating

One thing you need to consider is, how old is line going from your house to the box outside. I paid the cable guy $40 under the table to give me a new one when he came to hook me up.

<--- Suddenlink for ISP, don't know how many hours I've logged (haven't looked) but I haven't had a single disco nor a single lost udp. I most be one of the lucky few. Just checked my score, logged 25 hours no disco.

Charter must vary by location, I have had Great service by them.
When I first hooked up at the new house, I got lousy connections. Tech came out over the weekend, an hour after I called on the problem, and replaced, for free, the Splitter INSIDE my house that I had just gotten from Fry's Electronics. No Charge. The kewl part was I don't have inside the house service through them, so they could have charged me a couple hundred bucks to test and repair.
I went in yesterday to talk about my bill, which was high compared to the promotions they were advertising, and asked if they could upgrade my service or reduce the price to match the offers. I don't mind paying, but do mind subsidizing the new subscribers :)
They reduced my rates AND took my expanded basic and added a bunch of movie channels, then sent my 5mb internet up to 10mb.
I'm happy, took about 10 minutes worth of talking to them at the counter.

You got riped off, part of an installation is a new cable from the line to the house. At least it is with Comcast.

No it's not, at least that was my experience when I got Comcast after moving up to L.A.

I used to never get disco's. I'd go months without one. About the time of the new terrains Time Warner Cable was taken over by Comcast in my area. Suddenly I was being disco'd all the time.
I posted in the bug reports forum. I sent e-mails to Comcast.
Then one night I noticed that my modem was turning itself off, then re-booting. I got on-line with a Comcast rep who immediatly blamed my router. Huh?
I double checked all the cable connections and the incoming cable had a screw connection to the modem. I turned it about 1/360th of a turn tighter and haven't had a problem since. It barely moved when I tightened it but it had evidently loosened just enough (I usually move the modem aside when cleaning) to cause my problem.

lol bat yay someone liked it ;)

Have had serious CTDs last few days, bout every twenty minutes.

I'm already in a Max Prison, so :p

Make that 17 disco's now! Grrrrrrrrrrrrr
-
Hey Skuzzy out of curiousity if you read this and have spare time run a trace (or whatever it's called) to my end. I don't know if my having no discos or loss of UDP in 25 hours logged is related to less distance having to be traveled, or just sheer luck. But I'd be interested as to why I'm not getting the disco fever.
