Im just curiouse as to the prcess the staff goes through to render a new aircraft out of thin air, and how to put a face on the guys bringing us this game.
I mean I can at-least get a sneak peak at how the new Halo was made, and who was responsible for what aspect of the game, but not Aces High.
I was wondering if perhaps one of the staff would be willing to take some digital of themselves, and where they work, and post it on myspace.
Like a biography. Not long or anything, but atleast show us a couple of snips here and there, renderings of planes from the past and such....
anyway, this is the place to plug ideas.:aok

stephen, the term "Aces High" and "disclosure of information", doesn't mix.
We've been waiting the Combat Tour for years now, and frankly, the total number of HTC news on CT development ever posted on these forums, is like less then 10 posts total.
So don't ask them anything. It saves a lot of grief.

Well there's an optimistic view of the world!

No evil intent, want to see the guys/ and roots of my favorite game.

HTC is modeled after Chinese software sweat shops with 10,000 chimpanzees pounding away on 10,000 computers 18 hours a day and seeing what they can come up with.

QFT. It was in mid 2003 that the CT was announced. The CT is one of two things. Ether it is the longest game development in history. Or it is the greatest marketing ploy ever devised. :aok

I played WB1 when they released WB2 but kept WB1 open. It split the player base overnight. Those that had older PC's couldn't use WB2 and look at WB now even after closing WB1. Their lucky to get 90 guys on.
Could you imagine LW 1 and 2 + CT ?
IMO for it to work they'd have to release CT as some sort of box game with options to go interactive.
sorry for the hijack.

I believe there is a large aquarium with walruses in it that knock around beach balls of ideas and that's how it works, I might be confused though.

Where does Battlecruiser 3000AD fall in there then? IIRC, it dragged out for over seven years.

Actually, the current No.1 ranked all-time vaporware of computer gaming history is "Duke Nukem Forever". Announced in Spring of 1997, and still pending.
10 years!

My other thread I was wondering about how these guys created Aces High. Sounds to me like somebody already got burned once. Patent infringement? Bet they didn't even have the original idea protected. I've seen that in industry. Some guy out in the shop creates a great idea working for his company. If lucky, maybe a $300 bonus, while the company patents his idea to make millions. The next time they come to him, he says, "I want a percentage of the profits, in writing, up front before work begins". They say, "but you work for us!" There is always the next job. Bummer, if one signs a ten year disclosure statement and can't run with the idea if one terminates. Don't know if that is what happened here or before...

Actually, while I used to believe that, I have come to accept that there really is no such thing as HT or that the game is in fact designed, even though it may look that way.
What actually happened Stephen, is that AH2 originated from nothing, it is entirely the result of time and chance, some people think that it will someday become something else called Combat Tour, and have pointed to what they claim are evidences of transition, but close inspection shows them to be variants of the original AH2 organism. Some people claim they can call HT and he hears them and answers, but I think that they just say that to help them get through the difficult parts of the game.

I'm not sure what the new office looks like, but I dropped into the old HTC in March 2006 while on a trip out to Oklahoma and Texas. I was impressed with the hospitality. Not many game companies will just let someone walk in off the street and take the time to sit down and talk with you. Everyone was polite and took the time to explain to me what they were working on. I got to see the 3D B-17 model in the process of getting skinned. Pyro let me play around with the jeep model before it was released. HiTech showed me the beta of Combat Tour and we even flew a mission while he was explaining how it was going to work. All in all a great bunch of people working there.
I agree though with the original thought of this thread that it would be nice to see a little bio of everyone who works there and what jobs they do. Of course any picture of Pyro will have to be taken with his ammo colection in the back ground.

So we finally know the real cause of the CT delays! :D
