Please give me a couple of minutes of your time. This post is about fellow simmers being victimized by Ubisoft. They rushed a sim,Silent Hunter IV out the door, unfinished, laden with bugs, patched it twice, fixing very little, and when being asked, begged, to patch it again and make it right, they have responded with, the reason we have't got back to you,is because there probably won't be another patch. They are insisting that they haven't got enough complaints and a list of bugs that need changing in the hard coding. That is crap and they know it.Silent Hunter IV has a group of hard working modders, that have tried there best to fix all the bugs, but a lot are hard coded.and need the dev's to fix.
If companies like Ubisoft are allowed to get away with this without any resistance,we simmers are in for tough times.By the way guess who owns Ubisoft....EA Games!!!.You old Air Warriors will recall that name!Fortunately we came to AH,and they have always been up front for us simmers, and provided a excellent flight sim for us to enjoy.
As fellow simmers,we just ask that you side with us.Think about buying Ubisoft sims, and ask yourself did these people do my fellow simmers right?Warn other people of this ongoing trend.Help us get the word out,and maybe Ubisoft will see the error of their ways.

Ubisoft sucks.
I was just trying to play Pacific Fighters last night, what a hunk of dookie that thing is... Yeah, it's pretty, but dang near unplayable.
-
so what do you want Irondog? for everyone to boycott Ubisoft? then sign me up cause AH2 is the only game i play anyways.
:aok
-
Ah2 is all I play too. Probable for the foreseeble future.
:aok
-
I have been playing Far Cry and the IL2 series for years... never had any problems here.
-
Indeed, I have the IL2 series and never had problems with it... but that depends on how active is Maddox game, not Ubisoft. The latter is not new to this policy, just look at Lock on, they discontinued support for it and the development and distribution was brought on by Eagle Dynamics alone. I hope submarine fans will find someone who'll help us with those issues...
-
Not buying sims from Ubisoft will not kill Ubisoft, probably won't even put a dent in their earnings. However it will further endanger sims as viable commercial products, and they are quite endangered already.
And btw. EA only owns 20% of Ubisoft.

there is other sims besides AH?? when did that happen :noid

when they fix their "patch" process, I'll consider another UBI Softhead product. This constant, "install patch 1, then 2, then 3..." is pure BS, when they can make one all inclusive patch that either auto updates, or does the increments for you.

I really is stupid, because there's no 'install' per se. It's just an unzip and file copy. There's no real patching going on.
-
Ubisoft is just a distributor, they don’t make any patches. The developer makes the patches, in case of Pacific Fighters that would be 1C: Maddox Games.

Hehe. I just noticed my post says 'I really is stupid'.

That`s not what Monica said. :D

Irondog, it's sad to say, but if it's not a FPS, it will probably stay on the back-burner forever.
I've seen more than one thread on these very boards that ask HTC to incorporate playable infantry, to bring a FPS aspect to a flight sim, of all things!!!
If you take the entire Video game market, everything from sports to sims, from Home-console boxes to PC's, you'll find that sub sims are the black sheep of the family, in terms of sales.
Ubisoft, like any other company, is gonna take care of it's primary cash-cows first.
-
Aces High IS a FPS. It just happens to be based in aircraft and limited ground vehicles.

O.K. Ubisoft has the devs working on the 1.3 patch. The patch thing has been going on since I can remember. It is the trend these days.We submariners espicially have the problem of sub sims simply don't sell well enough for the company to make any money.Once the patch comes out and everything settles down, and the modders put the finishing touches on it,this old Swede is going to keep it on the hard drive a long time,as I don't think Ubisoft is going to venture into the submarine simulations anytime soon. It's all about money, and my stance from now on will be six months after the sim goes gold, then, and ony then, will I consider purchasing it.
