Title: BaDkaRmA158Th - treehugger - to not hijack from WWII thread in general topics
Post by: texasmom on May 25, 2007, 03:50:49 PM
Tree-hugger: A person who advocates changes in current practices or conditions through radical intervention ~ in this case, chaining themselves to a tree to prevent it from being chopped for whatever environmental cause.

In other words, the self-proclamation that you are a tree-hugger from the WWII thread in general discussion indicates that you are willing to put your own life in a dangerous position (such as tree-huggers normally would do) because you value the life of a spotted owl nesting in it, or you want to make sure trees with a specific type of gum aren’t wiped out, etc.

That is the kind of tree hugging that you’re speaking of, isn’t it?  Or are you making a generalization that you fall in lock-step with the Green Peace, PETA, it’s-okay-to-kill-human-babies-if-they-inconvenience-you-but-not-okay-to-chop-a-tree imbeciles?

The real thing to protect in Texas is a mockingbird sitting in a pecan tree which is in a bed of blue bonnets.
