Yes, especially for skins and you can't pre-load all the skins unless you have mega gigs of memory. You didn't state if you have anything running in the background like Anti-Virus or anti-spyware programs or something silly like winblows update or any other programs with an auto-update feature. All of those can cause your disk to be accessed while playing AH.

I only have widows vista running.
Would a faster hard drive give better game performance. i have a 7200 rpm
seagate.

Western-Digital 74 gig 10,000 rpm RAPTOR HD
with nothing loaded on it except the OS and AH.......maybe a webbrowser(firewall too )

There is your problem right there.
Dump vista, reinstall XP pro, or set it up for a dual boot if you MUST have vista.

Not really under that operating system. It would but it would be such a minimal performance gain that you couldn't tell it. The best thing to do is ditch Vista. If you can't do that, then read Skuzzy's Post it for optimizing Vista for AH and then print it out and follow his suggestions step by step.
