Title: X-52 problem
Post by: falcon23 on May 29, 2007, 11:08:15 PM
I have been using my x-52 for about 3 weeks or so and have noticed something which I cannot explain,I am not sure if it falls under spiking or something else..

The problem was  I had one of the toggles keep going off so much by the SST command it  BSOD my comp..I got it back up so it was not permamnent, but when the comp came back on,it said windows had redcovered from a BAD error basically.I then went into the SST and basically turned that toggle off..windows does not like/.ef to keep going off.;) ..

So I am thinking ok,I will just not be able to use that toggle.well,lo and behold tonight I get off AH and leave the room as it is coming back into my screen and as soon as I come into the room about 5 min later my screen is nothing but horizontal lines, all a different color repeating themselves..SO while I enjoyed the "PRETTY COLORS" for a minute,it was followed by a gasp as I was thinking the controller must be at it again..Although this time I think it is the x   /altx toggle due to something that happened earlier tonight in the game while I was auto climbing.

SOME BACKGROUND: when I first brought the controller home one of the buttons on the stick, not a toggle, was blinking on and off in the sst stick checking..I had it plugged into the front usb port at that time.So I read here that maybe I do not have enough juice and that maybe I should try and plug it into one in the back..Well it went away and no longer causes me problems..Before I did that it would fire guns from my plane on the runway..as it was "spiking" but it would not shut off.I do not recall if this was ONLY under SST or not. I think not,but I do not recall.

My question is this..did I get a lemon?Or is this what would be considered spiking?Do I need to get a powered USB port?I got the extended 2 year warranty from best-buy for free replacement for 2 years,so that is an option..And I am seriously considering doing that..

My comp of course, did not start acting up until I got the stick..

 anybody else ever experienced this???

                                                   Thanks,
                                                           Kevin

Sit down cuz you're not gonna like my reply.

Sitting? :D

It sounds like you spiked your video card via the X52. Same thing happened to me last summer on a hot day. In my case I had to replace the MOBO on my laptop as the vid card is integrated. Only an educated guess but I'd bet money on it. Good luck.

"OUCH"...OK ,how will I know,or how can I check to see if that is what has happened..

Also, what causes this spike to occur?ANd yes my video card is also integrated into the board..it is an atix pro 200...

                               Thanks,
                                   Kevin

Is you monitor normal at any time? If all you have is verticle lines you better troubleshoot the issue with manufacturer tech support.

As to what caused it, sounds like the X52 may be the culprit. As to why or how, that's beyond my scope.

Hey Max,thanks for replying..

My monitor is always ok except for those 2 times..

Here is what happened tonight before I got on the game..

I went into SST and turned on my mode for the controller..ALl of a sudden I start hearing the repetitive sound of a toggle being hit, while nothing is hitting the toggle, like it is stuck. So I push the toggle and it stops.I then went into the SST programming and cleared all my toggles...I go into the game and everything is working fine, except the toggles of course..I log off the game in blue,as the bish are not doing very well.:cry Although I did put in 4 hours of bomb runs.

Anyway all seems ok now..I went into my video card and it says everything is working fine.I am guessing that I will go and exchange it for another this weekend and see if the same problem raises its ugly head..

                                                    Thanks,
                                                        Kevin
