...on religious issues there can be little or no compromise.
There is no position on which people are so immovable as their religious
beliefs. There is no more powerful ally one can claim in a debate than
Jesus Christ, or God, or Allah, or whatever one calls this supreme
being. But like any powerful weapon, the use of God's name on one's
behalf should be used sparingly. The religious factions that are growing
throughout our land are not using their religious clout with wisdom.
They are trying to force government leaders into following their
position 100 percent. If you disagree with these religious groups on a
particular moral issue, they complain, they threaten you with a loss of
money or votes or both. I'm frankly sick and tired of the political
preachers across this country telling me as a citizen that if I want to
be a moral person, I must believe in 'A,' 'B,' 'C,' and 'D.' Just who do
they think they are? And from where do they presume to claim the right
to dictate their moral beliefs to me? And I am even more angry as a
legislator who must endure the threats of every religious group who
thinks it has some God-granted right to control my vote on every roll
call in the Senate. I am warning them today: I will fight them every
step of the way if they try to dictate their moral convictions to all
Americans in the name of 'conservatism.'"
Now you're talkin'!

yet the forced moralism of socialism is no problem for you? Hate crimes and affirmative action and class warfare? The banning of words.. People being thrown in prisons for not paying taxes and groups like the branch dividians slaughtered by the government? none of these things bother you?
I am sick of the right telling me what is sexually moral and legal and the left telling me what is socially moral.
But... of the two... the left and the socialists are a far bigger threat to my individualism. They destroy my hope and individuality but give me pot and dildoes for compensation and allow the gay couple down the street more access to my money. they tell me what I can say and can't say and then if I commit a crime.. they determine the sentence based on if I didn't like the guys color or not.
I am sick of all of em but we ain't gonna get em to leave us alone... seems we just get the worst of both groups.

You sure it's not Jerry Falwell?

The guy is spot on about religious influence in government. Religion has no business telling government what or how it can operate. The pulpit is no place to mandate law. I wish he was running for POTUS. He would be a great president (unlike what we are saddled with now) and would definitely get my vote.
-
You would vote for Mephistopheles if he was running....
:rofl
:huh
Wait a second, he is running... in the guises of Billary and Bamma :O
-
BTW, it was Barry Goldwater.
-
The quite would be a selling point for sure, but it's hardly enough to put a man up for POTUS alone.

That makes no sense whatsoever.

Sorry, I'm on pain meds. Post-op. :D
What I meant to say was I like what he said, but in and of itself it's not enugh to put him up for election...or something like that.

Ah, gotcha. I think the fact he's dead might hurt his chances, too.;)

It didn't seem to affect Cheney, but then again he only ran for assistant manager.
