How many watched the first of the four part series that came on after this week`s episode of Deadliest Catch?
It was pretty interesting to me to get some insight into some of these guys lives and how they felt about things.
It`s pretty refreshing to see how well Deadliest Catch has done since the start. Finaly something on the boob tube that`s interesting amongst all the hog crap that`s being dished out and called entertainment.
Deadliest Catch has became a weekly ritual at my house and with most everyone I know. If I can`t be present when each episode airs, it goes to the DVR. Great stuff.
The story the CG pilot told about the rescue in the snow storm and the guys loading up boom boxes, suitcases , etc. in the basket was a hoot.
Sig and crew rocks. Jonathan and brother Andy seem like pretty cool folks. Phil trying to run his boat while dealing with his two sons cracks me up.
....BTW...Blake is a punk and punked himself. :aok

Deadliest Catch is must DVR TV for me. I really enjoyed After The Catch. I feel connected to these guys because I served in the Bering 79-81 in the USCG. What you've seen is nothing compared to what happens out there.
I have a buddy I went thru boot with that was present at the Helo rescue of the guys that were washed overboard onto the ice. He was on the USCG Storis, but they could not get close enough to throw a line because of the ice and rocks.
We also fouled a prop, just like they did tonight, when we were leaving Kodiak. We ran over a submerged bouy that sea lions had busted. We put a smallboat over the side to cut it loose. While the guys in the smallboat were cutting free the line, our ship was drifting. The OOD, an Ensign, ordered to turn the screws to put us back in deep water. He did not inform the smallboat crew and suddenly the line they had been coiling into the lifeboat began spooling into the prop. The line wrapped around the ankle of the seaman that had been reeling it in and jerked him overboard straight towards the propellers. It was that guy's lucky day, believe it or not. The coxwain of the smallboat was our ship's 1st Lt. , CWO Hamm. This guy was old school thru and thru. In less than 5 seconds he threw the boat in gear, turned and chased down the guy being dragged underwater, reached out and cut the guy free with his knife.
The guy that was nearly killed quickly got bumped to the top of the school list of his choice.

Good show. I know a couple crew from the Northwestern personally. A strange breed indeed.

I'm enjoying it. I didn't think the 2nd season would be as good as the first as you can only show so much about crabbing...but I like the layout of the show...not too much hollywood "realty TV mentality" where they try to start fights behind the scenes, and just enouugh informational stuff about the work. :aok

Ya I love the show. They really need to be careful to keep the drama real...not made up. That bit about the man overboard was my favorite part.
Even the drama of the guy needing to get back home for court was done well. Some of the Phil and sons stuff is getting borderline Real World though.

I like the show... DVR every week, but I got bored with "After the Catch".

I like the show as well. If I miss the first airing I can usually find a rebroadcast on the weekend.

I enjoyed the After The Catch show last night too
The show is one of my favorites. Its real and thus far, the petty dramas seem to be minimal.
I hope it doesnt turn into what American Chopper became...the same old pretend Father/Son slugmatch, week after week. Mikey helped save the show for most of the season...but the same old cuss-fess just got old. Thankfully its moved to TLC to die a slow, unglamorous death.
The also like the new Universe series.

Most boring show ever IMO. I spoke with a psychic and I can give a spoiler into the next 5 seasons......
Boats go out. Some catch crabs...Other don't....Boat breaks down....Boat catches a lot of crabs.....Guy sprains his ankle....Still not catching crabs so they head to no means land.....people catch crabs.....go falls off boat.
I'm not trying to underscore how dangerous this job is (and what an awesome service they provide because I love Alaskan King Crab.....These guys do an awesome job and don't get any credit), however that said, I just find the show to be boring...I'd rather watch cash cab

sits like a shining star above the rest of discovery channels weak-ass shows.
other than mythbusters, theres not much of any use on the channel anymore.
thankfully canadas worst lion-tamer, err handyman, is doing the season finale next week, and with any luck will get axed...
