Looks like another Trolls Shade account. If we get any type of artillary its going to be the 88mm.

A little grammar helps a long way. Us old timers run out of breath trying to read LONG run-on sentances

What was we talking about again? Something about tanks I think........

I agree that 88s should come first....
But a Bttry of 8in Howitzers could be very usefull....

A German 88mm FlaK36 would be much more versatile than a howitzer:
IT IS CALLED SEARCH (http://forums.hitechcreations.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=198029&highlight=German+88mm)

Indirect area fire, manned puffy ack, long range direct fire.
AP, HE, Smoke, AA

Why in hell would you need an artillary barrage on a spawn point for?

Oh yeah, lack of skill in the air.

My bad, carry on.

You search all you want... I already know!!!!
155s and 8inch, didn't need AP rounds... A direct hit would split a tank open like an M80 in a sodapop can....
German tigers were blown apart by Russian 152howitzers at Kursk....
Also German armor was pulverized on Sicily and at Salerno by direct Arty fire....
The 8 inch had more range, and a Much higher throw weight also....
Smoke and HE indirect, there is no comparison..... You could turn an enemy base into rubble from the next valley over....
The only thing missing is AA fire.....

But they would also be prime, soft, and tasty, targets for air attack....
Towed guns, unarmored prime movers, and ammo carriers, would make awesome secondary explosions.....
Cool stuff man

We have drivable AA such as the M16 and Ostiwind.... We have ammo carries such as a Jeep or M-3 with vehicle supplies. We don't need prime moves its what spawn points are for. But towed guns we need a towed 50mm AT gun.

Im all for some sort of manned artillery, but it has to function like a GV in the way that if the gun gets killed so does the operator. We have enough 5" heroes "sniping" from CVs with no risk to their own pelts as it is. :)

Well, I don't think it will ever happen... It would take a major overhaul of the game, to bring any realism to the ground war scene...
I have the feeling that the makers are not willing to do that, as long as they are making money as it is..... Sad but true....

Geordi; beam me down in a Brand New T 34..... LOL!!!!

What ever, it's fun enough.... I guess...

But the Ether Aces probably like it, if they fixed it....

We do have a mobile artillery vehicle, the LVT4 mounted with a 75mm howitzer.

Geez man, A short barrelled 75 pack howitzer is Hardly "Artillery"....
Besides, the armor was so limited that MG could shoot right thru it....
The one's that the Marines used at Saipan, didn't survive the first day!!!

So basically, you're looking for a heavy field artillery piece like the 155mm howitzer mounted on a T-34 chassis and with the Tiger's armor?  I don't think you have enough perks for it.

Still not big enough.  We obviously need Keith Laumer's BOLOs added to the game.

I know, but i was thinking about something along the lines of the Wespe or Hummel. Should be easy targets for almost anything but when they dont get slaughtered their cannons would be effective.

Bring on the 88!

LOL, I was talking about, (Realism)!!!
Not that goofy fantasy war stuff....

In Reality, the only (spawn) points for AV's, or Field Arty, would be Railheads.... Or LST's on the beach... Both would be limited as to the amount of equipment they could carry....

I think that there are two camps, Sim lovers, who seek reality in the game... And all the complexity of real war...
And Vid game lovers, who just want to run up their score... Like asteroids..

And never the twain shall meet!!!

Thinking seriously.... As the way things stand now in AH...With players popping in and out at random... It would really be impossible for the makers to bring more realism to the game....
It started as a flight sim.... It's the best there is too!!!
Land and Sea, are pretty much just a byproduct.... Or something for the pilots to shoot at when bored....

Oh well, so it goes in life...

A very large portion of the AH community seems to enjoy the land warfare part of the game.

"OdinGrunherze, yore wrong on so meny akounts that I cant realy point dem all out. You assoom things about Aces High which we never intendid in the ferst plaice."

LOL, like I said!!!
You make my point for me, thanks...

They are not assumptions, they are observations....

I've already said, that AH is the best flight sim, no question about that..
Thats what the makers started out to do. Well, THEY'VE DONE IT!!!

But on the land and sea front, it's weak beyond words...
But I understand why.... Not much can be done about it...
