No problem Jose.....I mean Yeager.
:aok
-
Hey, Ill take a Catholic Jose over an Islamic Mohammed any day :aok
-
Well my son's name is Jack (which came first!) so we won't be needing your help just yet Jose!
-
I don't think Americans have any ground to stand on when it comes to first names, Chuck.
-
Anyway, its not like muslims have to be called Mohammed or anything is it!:aok
-
No worries Yeager - England Will Prevail.
-
The English have a way of solving problems when they take the BS too long... just like we do. (BTW We'd love to get rid of the Joses...)
-
Did you read the story dowding? Any thoughts on the story?
-
I think we should kill anyone who isn't anglo-saxon ASAP. Given my German heritage on my father's side, I am exempt.
How about that for a response? :aok
Seriously though, I think you have to put the information in context. I think this article says more about the constitution of the Muslim community than it does about the British nation. Muslims are a small minority, but they have a much more homogeneous approach to naming with a very strong religious connection.
Now, compare this to the much more disparate British population a a whole, that is much more susceptible to trends and fashion, with a much weaker religious bias. Names like Oliver, Joshua and Jack were definitely not popular a few years ago but now they are in the top four.
The 12% rise in the name Mohammed is not borne by a 12% rise in Islamic population or male Islamic births. Interestingly, perhaps its an indicator of the Muslim community feeling that they need to assert their identity and recognise their faith? Maybe its a response to the negative spotlight that has definitely been pointed at the community as a whole? Or how about an indicator of the polarisation of the Muslim community, a key goal of the Islamofascists?

The whole story is hugely exaggerated. They have combined about 15 different variations of the name Mohammed, and compared it to individual variations of British names.

Well yeager if it wasn't for that empire a certain USA might not have gotten across the pond ;)
yeager come to visit some wonderful cities such as Bradford up North
You will see how muslim communities are part of Britain and not strapping bombs onto themselves and blowing us all up (much)
Asian/muslim cuisine can be found in most British cities.
Oh and The Few saved themselves!

Why the heck is Callum so high?
What is that...some sort of Welsh name or something?

Oh, let's spell the name differently! Then it'll have a different meaning!

The point is there are 3 Muslim names in the top hundred, 1 if you combine them. But it's still a tiny percentage of baby boys being called Mohammed, with all it's spellings.
And if you combine all variants of Mohammed, you should combine all variants of Jack, too. Add in the John's, Jacob's etc (which are all variants) and Mohammed is nowhere near the top name.
Bluto, yes, somewhere west of you.

Dear God...how many ways them hajis got to spell mahammond???

hmm i think a case of racist here from the US side of the pond. Belive it or not the UK has always openned it's arms to immagrants from it's collannies and tried to get along with countries that are diffrent.
Are you saying that ALL muslims are terroists? Would you look at your own millitant Cristian churches , which stock pile arms ready for thier own "holy war" against terror.
I'm starting to feel sorry for the native americans who have to put up with small minded , narrow thinking populas that raped their lands and moved them from thier dwelling areas......
just my 2cents (1.1p)
-
I try not to correct other folks spelling, as mine is generally atrocious, but spelling "Colonies" as "collannies" begs for a written smack down.
LERN HOW TO SPeLL FOO!
-
There is a saying ' travel broadens the mind,' I think whilst most americans are commendably patriotic (something we could probably benefit more from) many are sadly xenophobic and this gives rise to some of the rather tedious remarks we have here!
By the way we live in Britain not England, that consists of England, Scotland, N Ireland and Wales. Yes the Northern Irish can vote, yes we drive on the left, we also have electricity, carpets, running water, and don't have yellow teeth!
'Yeah Baby!'

But apparently you (plural) can not spell travel.
You invented the language... learn how to spell!
-
That did piss on my bonfire somewhat! Shall I begin with how many English words you guys cannot spell!!:aok
Besides a language does not stand still otherwise it dies, look at the difference between our English and yours, same language but sooo many different words and meanings - so what the hell spell it however you like:D
P.S. I typed that message at 530am man give me a break!

bugger the muhammeds...look at the insidous rise of the Finlays/Finley combos... 59: FINLAY, 60: FINLEY!!!
