What detch01, and NB said. Once you go CH you'll never go back..... they last forever !
-
They also cost too much for most folks to buy.
If the X52 is under warranty get it repaired/replaced. If it's ONLY the twist axis that's going bad, get a set of rudder pedals (they're somewhat better than a twisty stick anyways!) and use the X52 for everything but rudder.

While CH is IMHO the best that is currently available (except possibly the Thrustmaster Cougar) - there are those of us who can attest that they don't always "last forever".

Not quite. I go thru a CH stick every 2-3 years. I generally send it in for a rehab and use my spare. When it gets back it becomes my spare until my replacement needs a rehab. Normally, the hat goes bad.
Truth in usage going on here....

I'll have 10 years on my CH analog pedals at the end of the month and while they are getting a little spikey they still work fairly well in AH. That isn't "forever" but it's a fair chunk of time. I'll put new pots in them this summer and they'll likely last another bunch of years. I had an F16 fighter stick last 5 years until the movers got hold of it... amazing amount of damage those folks can do when they're being "careful".
Cheers,

If you can find a Microsoft Sidewinder 2 Force Feedback used some where snap it up. It's by far the best stick out there.
I have the red trigger version bought it in 2002 and it's the best stick out there IMO.

Keep the X52 and just go get a set of rudder pedals. Disable the twisty, map the peddals and then you don't have to go through the hassle of re-mapping a brand new stick.
That's what I would do anyways.

The winner.
Old gameport peds can be had for cheap. Then all you need is a gameport to usb adapter.

Best stick on the market now is Thrustmaster 'Top Gun Fox 2' (They may have the Force Feedback model out now, havent checked in a while.
You look at the cost and say this must be a crap stick.
But, this is the best stick I have had since the Microsoft FF2.
I have gone through one logitek after the next, even tried the saitek (loose piece of...)
I maybe paid $40 bucks for this stick at CompUSA over 2 years ago and its still works just like new. One solid tight heavy based fighter stick.
If you liked the Microsoft FF2 you'll like this stick.
There are 2 buttons on top, plus top hat, and 3 buttons on bottom (not visible in most photos).
Check this beauty out!

After 6 years of Saitek and a new owner of a CH Fighterstick....CH, hands down.
I could have owned 2 full CH HOTAS set-ups with the money I pissed away on the Saitek "cheap" stuff. You get what you pay for.
-
So true Max , I learned same lesson .
I did try that Thrustmaster stick in the store , seems ok , and if the hats last longer than a Satcrap then should be fine :) for a cheaper stick setup .

Exact same thing here but with Saitek. I rotate X45s. The hat switch is almost always the thing that goes.
Up until recently I'd put 80+ hours a month on the stick. So, I don't complain when it goes bad. And I wouldn't expect any stick to last more than 2years with that kind of usage.

CH made a believer out of me. i had some problems with underpowering form the usb bus so I bought a powered usb hub and the ch gear is smooth as glass and ultra precise. very fluid motion.
i loved sidewinders and ffb2 but this is better than them.
