Oh...All of the the squad says "Tell Fencer it looks Fantastic, we want it now!"

Really,...really sharp airplane.  Nicely done.

Fencer,

As Stampf said... "Thank you!"

It is beautiful.  The 109g6 is my sentimental favorite in AH.

I don't think I'll be flying anything else for a while once your skin comes out.

S!

Thanks, I like to do skins for squadrons who represent real units in the game.  I will be starting your G14 tonight or tomorrow.

I'm really glad you did these Fencer. I told Stampf I'd add some JG11 skins to my "to do" list but that got cut to nearly nothing once I started working longer hours.

I like what you've done on the G-6. I would definitely fly it! I was thinking of doing Grislawski's to go with Graf's that you already did, because it also had a full white tail (but was different), but this will do instead!!

The upper wing crosses are wrong size and slightly in the wrong place. The lower wing crosses have wrong style considering the period. Check also the missing detailing especially in the cowling area.

EDIT/It's Anton Hackl, btw./EDIT

EDIT2/Some reference pics for the upper wing crosses etc, it's only a model but a pretty good and accurate one: http://www.rlm.at/cont/gal03_e.htm/EDIT2

Good grief I did misspell his name, it is indeed Hackl.  I read about this guy in "I Fly for the Fuhrer" and will probably add Knoke's G6 at some point.

Thanks for the catches.  I have fixed the underwing crosses, deleting the black outline.

I will play with the upper markings.

The model you referenced shows a yellow undernose area and none of the three or so references I have show that.  Which do we suppose is correct?

Looks like I have the "nose 3d" layer disabled, I will turn it back on.

Appreciate the help.

Below is a picture of the actual plane.

[edit] Well I uploaded it, but it seemed to have disappeared...

Also, increase the size of the crosses quite a bit. They usually begin near the slat and end near the aileron.

Were you working from drawings alone? Here's one photograph that shows the underside of the nose in a pretty light shade:

Do you have any other photos of the plane that show the underside?

It is true that Ospreys Aircraft of the Aces series profile drawing for example shows grey underside...but profiles are very often wrong.

Yep that is the photo I just tried to post.  Obviously we have the same books.  For those playing at home I am posting the profile in question below.

That is the only photo I have found.

I just ordered the Kagero JG 11 book earlier this morning as I am having trouble finding good photos/profiles/anything on JG 11 G-14s or G-14/AS birds.  I know they flew them, see reference here. (http://www.luftwaffe.be/miajg11.html)  Maybe it will have additional photos of Hackl's plane.

I have a scanner (obviously) and have that photo scanned in at a real high rez, I will see if there is a demarcation.

I think there's a strong chance that if the chin were yellow, you'd see some subtle shade difference in that B&W photo. I say stick with the way you have it (no yellow chin)

I checked with various settings of contrast, negative etc on the photo and can see no sign of a yellow chin.

...wait till ya all see the G-14.  I have seen the basis for it.  :t  JG11 is not known for colorful, flashy paint jobs.  Being born out of desperate times, the 11th fighter group sported the best practical camo for location and season, coupled with single yellow fuse band, donating them as a "Reichverteidigung" or Homeland Defense Gruppe.

Simple yet beautiful.  :aok

Ok I am going to submitt it tonight.  I added a bunch more detail to the weathering, tried out some new things and was pleased with the results.

Also I found a neat JG11 109K-4.  Looks like I might have to get a K-4 template made.

As soon as I finish the JG27 G6 I have going I am moving on to the G14 for JG11 we discussed.  The one book I got on JG11 was a bust, not a good reference.

Cheers.

Everyone asked if you would do the K for us.  That would be most sweet sir.
