Title: 109k4 Hptm. Franz Wienhusen IV./JG 4 , Germany 1944 (109G10)
Post by: Citabria on June 09, 2007, 02:30:41 AM
thx guys for help with markings and colors and profiles and etc with these crazy german aircraft.

heres some pics of work in progress still with airmess' weathering and details (still need to make my own). I think I have the colors about how I want them at least. :)

if i remember right this was the default 109g10 scheme long ago in ah1.

cheers :)

heh i dont know jack about luftwaffe planes either but i am trying to make it look pretty :)

its a 109g10 skin for the 109k4 its closest relative.

the g10 had a dangling tailwheel i know but the k4 was retractable.

the g10 and k4 have identical performance so this skin is an allowable subsitution for the k4 3d model since the g10 was replaced in game with the k4 when the 109s were remodeled.

No, the K-4 has the dangle-wheel as well. Thats the 1 reson I dont fly that plane.

That may be true, but our in-game model has a dangle-wheel. If you can wait, ill take a screenshot in-game tomorrow.

Thats very strange, because MY K-4s always have dangle wheels. If this has changed, or im just wrong, I will be ecstatic as it means I can now fly my plane!!! lol

The K4 has a retractable rear wheel.

It also featured full main-gear covers from the factory, though I believe that these were often removed in the field.

Citabria, very nice skin. I look forward to using it.

Thanks for putting in the effort.

Probably because the are G14s.

Nice work Cit, looks like a great addition to a plane which needs alot more good and correct skins completed.

Don't you just love the "RLM" colors.  Not nearly as defined and straight forward as the USAAF.

No, the G-14s tailwheel doesnt dangle, its simply permanently fixed. The K-4 (at least the ones on my monitor) have spring loaded tailwheels, that are like shock absorbers. Oh well. I guess my end is just messed up somehow.

K4 had extended and retractable tailwheel - extended to improve view over nose when taxiing - It also had fully enclosed main gear wheel wells something are K4 is lacking!:O

Serenity, are you talking about the K4 in game not having a retracted tailwheel, or the RL one?

I've raised this here already, the general consensus was that the majority of these main-gear doors were removed in-field due to complications with the rough airfields from which the Luftwaffe operated.

Hence their exclusion in-game.

That is honestly the most retarded thing I have ever read on these boards, and thats saying a lot.  Why on earth would that matter?  K4 FTW! Nice skin btw.

I am obsessive-compulsive, and extremely obsessed with asthetics. The fact that I fly the Bf-109 at ALL considering the aysymetrical supercharger intake is a miracle, but I love the bird enough to shrug that off...

Haha, the supercharger intake is one of the best things about it.

The 109 is a brutal, ugly, murderous machine!

Brutal, yes. Murderous, yes. But not ugly. The supercharger is aysymetrical, and thats what I dont like. But, it makes up for it :)
