OK gang, here's how I think it's gonna go down...
Tony gets a call at the safe house in Jersey the next morning from his buddy at The FBI. The crew that whacked Bobby and shot up Silvio and is out for Tony has been arrested. In short order Pauli Walnuts gets a call with a tip on the whereabouts of Phil. Tony leads his crew, hunting down Phil and taking him down along with his two primo goombas.
Now clear of danger, Tony's back at the house with Carm and the kids...walking around in his undies and white bathrobe. Who shows up out of the blue noneother than Dr Melfi, who's upset at the way she handled the last therapy session and wants to mend things with Tony. Tony goes berserk and throws her out of the house. He blames her for everthing that's gone wrong in the last 24 hrs. He begins to get physical with her when she draws a handgun from her purse. AJ, watching this all go on finds the "say hello to my leeetle friend" bazooka that Tony's been hauling around, and blows Melfi into oblivion....but not before Melfi gets a shot or two off on Tony.
Final scene leaves Tony dead in the driveway offering his final words of advice to AJ...words we never hear.
Stay tuned tomorrow night.

I have never watched a single episode of that show. Seen some commercials/previews, but never understood the hype about it

-
Agree -- stupid ending. Ran out of ideas. Thumbs down.
-
<-- flings poo at David Chase.
I've been a die hard fan from Season 2. Have seen every episode from the gitgo. Having endured the endless waits inbetween seasons and all the hype about this epsode being the "the final conclusion" ...I'm just plain disappointed that the creators of TV's best written series would end on such a non-conclusive note. Aside from all the hype we'll be reading tomorrow, it's all about the next Sopranos "event". The fans deserved better. I feel like I've just attended a "Barbara Streisand Final Concert" concert. How many has she had now?
-
Max your really upset about this. Would you like an appointment with Dr. Malfi??
:aok
-
I'm with Max, and I smell a movie coming.
Smashing Phil's head was kewl, tho :)
-
They are making a movie. That was confirmed last year.

GREAT ending. My heart was pounding when it was over.
Here kitty, kitty...:rofl
-
So...it was Fredo, right?
-
Theory to the ending... Tony's dead
Tony's convo with bobby on the boat.. " you wouldn't even know it had happened: everything would just go black."
That was brought up again last week, and with all the foot traffic in the diner, assuming he was knocked off wouldn't be a far stretch that he got whacked.

mine too. i felt as if i was thrown into his paranoia.
i dont think they could have played it any better. leaving it the way it was left...it doesnt hold you by the hand. it didnt make it easy.
i liked that.

David Chase knew exactly what he was doing. The show ended when Phil went all melonhead. Everything after that was an epilogue and sneak peak to the upcoming movie.
My favorite scene? "HA! We're gonna win this thing!":rofl
That character got a lot of play in the last few episodes. Watch for him to be a major player in the film.

I liked the look on his buddies face.:D

Best line I've read of the revues:
‘‘The Sopranos’’ has never played by the rules of TV, and last night was no exception.
-
I thought it was as perfect as it could be.
No matter what happened, people were gonna whine. It seems most wanted your typical mafia bloodbath ending.
I'm glad they didn't, it's completely overdone.
I fell out of my chair laughing at the people's reactions during Phil's last scene.
-
Ya know what was funny? Pauli staring at the cat that was staring at Chris...OMG did I howl.
And a vision of Mary in the BING? Priceless.

I didnt think of it that way until now. The screen went blank and I thought something happened to my dish or the reciever. would make sense though, that one guy walked to the bathroom and then came back behind him and pop.... end of show...
-
Exactly Crockett...Thats what happened IMO. David Chase emphasized this in the first episode of season 6B, and the previous episode to the finale. He gave us all the hints, and this is the only logical ending I can come up with. We see camera shots from Tony's point of view several times as he comes through the door, and this was his final shot. The 6-7 seconds of blackness was part of the episode. Didn't go to credits immediately. Furthermore, this was the only sopranos where no music was played during the credits.
Tony is dead.
-
Yep, Michael Corleone, in the bathroom, with revolver.
-
Too bad it won't be on next year :(

Tony is dead.
interesting take on it cav.
im thinking of that conversation with bobby where he was talking about not even seeing it coming.
now i am seeing the scene playing out beyond the darkness...carmilla with blood on her face and hair wiping his face with his head in her lap... AJ freaking out...meadow crying and screaming for a doctor...
-
Who would want to hit him? Phil is dead and he had the blessing to "do what you gotta do" from the new boss.
-
The escaped Russian for one. Phil's duplicitous family for another; wouldn't be the first time a truce was broken.

lmfao. He was the fictitious crime boss who many could consider responsible (directly or not) to the murder of dozens of people, the disruption of countless lives, and the loss of enormous sums of money. I think there might be one or two people who would have a gripe with him.
-
Naa, it makes more sense that he got busted. If Tony's dead, who's gonna star in the movie? David Chase is genius at playing headgames. He's got everyone writing their own ending.
But there is one thing that we know for sure, Sil lives!!!

Everybody content and smiling at each other, then sudden fade to black for 6 seconds, no music as the credits run.
Tony's story is ovah. Fuggedaboudditt.

The 1st thing I thought after the fade to black was Tony got whacked.

Here ya go; found this out on the net. A nice list of things to mull over.
Enjoy!
Sopranos Non-Ending or Ending
Fade to black...
*The "therapy" ending. Given that the show has centered on therapy for eight years and the recurring theme of therapy is "what does it mean to you?"--it ends with a "you fill in the blank or black" as it were...
*The "song" ending. Music has always been a big part of this show and the choice of Journey's "Don't Stop Believing" gives one a hint at the ending:
Workin' hard to get my fill
Everybody wants a thrill
Payin' anything to roll the dice
Just one more time
Some will win
Some will lose
Some were born to sing the blues
Oh, the movie never ends
It goes on and on and on and on
...which also hints at a movie, we've been told won't happen. But this last show introduced so many new plot lines as to almost be laughable.
*The nuclear explosion-nihilist ending...hinted at were the terrorist warnings of the last episodes. Perhaps the fade to black indicated a nuclear explosion and the destruction of Newark?
*The coward's ending--not willing to take a stand, three diferent endings were shot, none of them were aired.
*The buy the DVD ending...all three endings will be available on the DVD version of the season that won't be available in true Sopranos fashion for another two years.
*The cat ending...we were in the last scene given a peak at what the cat was looking at and saw.
*Then there is this..Tony Soprano died "you wouldn't even know it had happened: everything would just go black," from a conversation with Bobby on the boat about getting whacked.
-
haven't watched the show since season two but turned it on to see the last episode..
It was a real yawner. Boring as hell. the end suited the rest of the episode as it was boring too.
I guess if you had to live that guys or his families life it may as well all be blackness.
lazs

Might work with a blast like a gunshot, even truncated, but camera angle was wrong for this ending -- it was from the aisle, not from Tony's position.

Then Anthony got wacked. Nissan sent a hit squad after he burned up the Xterra, bad pr burning up your suv on a pile of leaves...
