Title: Baseball is boring.
Post by: lasersailor184 on June 09, 2007, 12:12:24 PM
It's damn near painful to watch.  So I've come up with a few rule changes.

1.) The baseball will have a built in stun gun.  If it is held by the same person for 5 seconds or more, it will discharge (painfully).   A normal sized person would probably pass out after the second shock.  The steroids players could probably take 3 hits.  Hopefully, this will speed up the game.

2.) The fields will be lengthened to their original sizes, not this 300 feet ***** crap.

3.) If a person hits a double, they reserve the right to tackle the pitcher, but from second base only.  Once they step off the base, the pitcher has the right to peg him with the ball.  If the pitcher misses, or doesn't see the tackler in time, the next batter up gets to run the bases repeatedly, scoring as many points as possible.  This is stopped when (if) the pitcher can get up.  The tackler will be doing his best to keep the pitcher on the ground (UFC moves encouraged).  All of the pitcher's team is encouraged to join in to get the tackler off of him.  ONCE the tackler is off, both the tackler and the runner have to stop in place, and turn away from the pitcher.  The pitcher then gets to wing one shot at either person, his choice.

What are some rules you can come up with to make it not boring?

Sounds like someone never got picked when they were playing baseball.  Nothin' boring about baseball at all.  Being at the game is better than television but there's nothing wrong with either.

Golf on television I don't watch except for the majors.  Golf while at the tournament is great!  Just have to make sure I bid the US Open off this year since it's here at Oakmont in PA :D  This will be the first major I've been to...yay!

I agree that baseball is a snoozer.  I've played it and watched it and I'd definitely rather play.  The suspense in the ninth inning of a close game is intense, but the 8 innings leading up to it make for a great nap time.  The only baseball I watch now is when my son is playing.

Extra innings only; an out for a base.  You can take 2 outs to start an inning and you get to put a runner on second or take one out and put a runner on first.  That will speed up extra inning games.

How about the pitcher’s mound is big enough to hold four pitchers; every base is a home base for one of the pitchers.  Likewise, each base has a hitter, catcher and referee.  Two of the bases have hitters that run clockwise and the opposite two run counterclockwise; all pitchers throw at once.

Oh yeah: the game starts with 1,000 chickens and 25 foxes on the field.  And, all batters must have lit Roman candles inside their bats (while up to bat).

Heck, I’d actually watch that.

Watching golf is like watching elderly people grow old.

Watching baseball is like watching farming.

If you are actually THERE, (in the stadium) baseball is ok.

If you are actually THERE, (at the golf course) golfing is wasting money AND time.

For those who accuse me of being non-athletic (as above) I was a football player and Olympic class wrestler.  Show me your National Bronze Medal, and I'll show ya mine.

(Mine is in a jewelry box on the wife’s dresser….never wear it.)

Yes, baseball is very boring to watch on tv, and only slightly less so at a game in person.  One of the problems is too many games.  When you have over 160 regular season games, as a rule any one game means nothing.

At least in football, each game is a critical game toward the season won/loss record and as such, has a big influence on the chance of post-season play.

Baseball is only interesting if you are playing in the game.

athletic competition is great, the fans ehhhh.   without the fans there is no sports.  it's just like women you need them but it sure can be troublesome to have them for some of us.

If you take a stopwatch and actually time how long the ball is in play during a baseball game, you will find that it's generally 'round 10min of actual "play" during a 3hr baseball game.

So football is only half as boring as baseball.

Proffesional baseball isn't a sport, it's business.

Sport means that you are doing something for the sport of it.

Baseball on the radio in the summer. Nothing better than sitting in the back yard sipping a cool one and burning some meat while listening to Vin Skully call a game. He is an artist.

Spoken like a true fan like myself!!!  We have definitely become a nation with a short attention span.  Everything doesnt have to be EXTREME or condensed to be enjoyable...  Havent they ever been fishing for 12 hours without a bite and still enjoyed the trip???

If it were not for the play by play commentators continuous babbling, I fall a sleep during NFL games.
